Do what you feel is needed:binnsyboy said:Could someone do some digging on this? I need to know if I should cancel my card, I had a Star Wars Galaxies account a while ago. I really wouldn't have the first clue about finding out if SOE has been breached...
Sony Now Says 10M Credit Cards Accounts Compromised
Typical Sony here, clam up and deny everything until you are forced to admit it. The last time we reported on this, the company went from claiming "no-proof" that credit card info was stolen, to saying "the data was encrypted," to today....10 million credit card details may have been compromised. frown
That's not the personal details on their PSN account - all 77 million of those were up for grabs - that's ten million customer's credit card details. We've known for some time that credit card details have been at risk as part of the attack on the network, but this is the first time Sony has been able to put a figure on the number of card holders potentially affected.

Exactly. The way this statement came out and its suddenness is very worrying for any Sony MMO player. This wasn't some sort of maintenance alert, or "as a result of security issues discovered during the recent PSN breach we will be experiencing an extended maintenance time today to increase and improve network security" This was a "EVERYBODY BRACE FOR CRASH POSITIONS" sort of emergency announcement. I am really thinking that they may have just discovered that SOE has been breached too.danpascooch said:This doesn't sound like the phasing back at all, if it was just a technical maintenance thing (such as having to take it down before relaunching it with new security) they wouldn't use words like "concern", "issue" and "immediately"Andy Chalk said:In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately.
If I had to guess, I would say they just discovered that more data was stolen then they previously thought.
That's a hell of an understatment. LOLHungry Donner said:The last week hasn't been too good for Sony has it.
It's of no concern to me at this point, as all my old cards have been closed out already after the PSN debockel. I close all 3, even though only one was prolly effected, just cause i couldn't remember for sure, if i'd used a different one in the past, and out of an over abundence of caution. So.. even if SoE got hacked too, it's all outdated info now...LogicNProportion said:I never gave my credit info on PSN, so I wasn't worried...
But I played SWG for YEARS using my credit card.
If the two are connected...
Awwwwwwwwwwwww fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
