Also: Why would Jewish people be offended? If anything they should be happy they're actually being represented in video game form. I mean, Matt Stone is Jewish, and as such Kyle has been made into one of the best Jewish characters on television, totally lacking stereotype except for the occasional joke moment.

Every race should be so lucky to have such a neutral representation of themselves on the air. Television is run mostly by white racists (Rupert Murdoc, I'm looking right at you), hence why you only see a-typical white families or white teens on television unless it's in a mocking light.

Seriously, being pissed that you can not only be a Jew, but that it's a sweet class with what sounds like a pretty epic skill set that comments on how Jewish people are strongest when they've been beaten down... Well I mean it sounds like you're taking two steps backwards while trying to walk forwards, and I'm betting most of the rage is just over it being the phrase "Jew", which has been given negative connotation.

i -HATE- Southpark. Its Vulgar, its Racist, Its Frankly Discusting, And it really seems to only cater for Lowest-Common Denominator Humor. I mean, Ive seen snippets of the show, and there are only so many ways that a show can make Penis jokes. I also saw part of the World of Warcraft eppisode, but stopped watching after one of the characters Defecated on his mothers face For Absolutely no reason .

Horrible show, This will be a horrible game, and the world will be worse for it.

I would be more inclined to agree with you if we were taking about Family Guy. I don't care much for Seth MacFarlane shows. By comparison South Park seems clever and coherent.

If you ever watch it again, try to watch a full episode. Without context an individual scene may seem like pointless vulgarity, but it is a satire show, so you can't take things totally literally.

They do use allegorical bodily excretions quite a lot though, so if you're just not into dirty humour, foul language and characters you're not supposed to like or agree with,... then no amount of storytelling or characterization will change your mind.

That said, what I really want is a Futurama game.

I'm a bit dissapointed at the idea that the class name is the /only/ joke. I'm a Jew myself, and I'd very much like to see some Jew-based humor in the class abilities. The gas shower thing is not appropriate, sure, but how about abilities like "Jew Gold" and "Serbian Jew Double Bluff?" Cartman's in charge here, right?

That said, even if it's called Jew and everything else is just a Paladin, I'm totally looking forward to it. South Park's a very funny show, and if Parker and Stone are directly involved in the game I expect it to be a laugh riot.

Hnnnng. My family's Jewish, but...

I wouldn't say that I take offense to this exactly, but I do feel a bit uncomfortable about it. Maybe it's just because I hate the show as a whole.

I'm Jewish, my family was in the holocaust and everyone but my grandparents were put into work camps until they were murdered. My grandparents luckily survived with with only missing one eye and the other person have to wear dentures the rest of their life (b/c they were curb stomped). *Ahem* now that I have shown my "credentials", let me just say this... don't. Do not be a stereotype and get offended by this. I can't stand people who make a big deal about things like this, it just makes us Jews look bad. If anything, be happy that there is actually an opportunity for Jewish gamers to see a "representation" (granted it is done in humor) of themselves in a video game. I'm sorry if I come off as bossy, but I can't let comments like these pass without putting in my own two cents.

They specifically mentioned no racist, Jewish related stereotypes will be associated with this class.
The name is the whole joke.

Now, granted, I am not a huge South Park fan, but shouldn't there also be a "Black" class or an "Asian" class by that logic? In fact, they are constantly ragging on blacks and asians during the course of the show almost as much as they are Jews, so shouldn't those 2 sectors of humanity also have their own class?

Also, as a side note, why is "Jew" the paladin class? Speaking as an avid tabletop gamer, I think the wandering, storytelling history of the Jewish people would lend itself more to the bard class rather than the extremist paladin class.

For some reason, that validates how serious Matt and Trey are working on this project to me. They're willing to keep one of Cartman's many running gags (i.e., things he hates) on the character creation screen.

Also, I will be deeply disappointed if at least one character I'll end up defeating over the course of the game doesn't use a racial slur as part of their death cry. Or at least have a questing companion tell me to "stop being such a Jew" when I'm the first to loot every chest in the room.

My first reaction was that I want to play the 'Canadian' class, because they look hilarious. But I think the joke is that they have a number of stereotypical RPG classes and one that defies logic and doesn't make sense. The joke would break if they make more than one of those.

That question has been asnwered about 5 times on this thread. It's an inside joke related to the D+D/LOTR episode. It's a very funny inside joke too.
