They probably would have, if the whole of the humankind "Empire" was made up of bloodthirsty soldiers. But they're not.geldonyetich said:I'm not sure I'd use the word pathetic to describe Warhammer 40k, but it's certainly overbearing to the point of infeasibility. All the races in the universe (humankind "Empire" included) run the gamut of being overzealous to completely bloodthirsty, and probably would have blasted themselves back into the stone age with their own suicidal tendencies.
Humans, Tau and Eldar are just ordinary people living their ordinary lives. Only a small number of each actually fight (Except for the Eldar, who are all prepared to fight if necessary). Those that do fight are fighting for the survival of their species. Orks are designed for war. They reproduce through spores without really thinking and they have a "Technogene", a genetic memory of technological accomplishments, that was designed into them. Tyranids are a race that consume and absorb bio matter, using it to adapt and evolve to meet the circumstances. Necron are all mindless robots, controlled by an unthinking God and Chaos are constantly recruiting and nigh on immortal for the most part.
I think that's everyone.
