Chief given his entire arsenal (choice from anything in the Halo series) could probably take out some of them. But not every Astartes is equal in physical strength and combat ability.
Chief with only an assault rifle, pistol and an energy sword? Chief dies a horrible death as a mangled mess of organs and metal.
Then since people were bringing up super weapons like orbital bombardments and MAC rounds, I pose my own ultimate weapon. Chief activates the Halo rings (this assumes he met them before he stopped the Halo ring threat), and now every space marine is dead, then again so is the Chief... alright... we'll call it a draw.

erh... the spartans might wanna team up, but dont count on the space marines holding hands with anyone... hell there are some instances of the space marines fighting against the imperial guard, and destroying entire worlds populated by their own civilians.dementis said:

First of all, Horus was not the Emperors equal. He was close, but the only reason he managed to hurt the Emperor was because the Emperor was holding back. If we're gonna get all fanboyish in this thread, we should do it right.alrekr said:

The only people who are arguing for the Chief here don't understand what a 40k Space Marine is. That universe is so unrelentingly ridiculous that there's nothing from any other universe that could stand any kind of chance.
There's nothing Chief has that can get through Astartes armour. Even if he did, a Space Marine is stronger, faster, better equipped, better modified and far more experienced. In any kind of fight, Master Chief loses. Even if he's in a Scorpion and the Marine just has his armour, Chief loses.

nah, in the fluff a space marine would only wipe out one planet, and then get glassed. remember that the only reason the covenant win in halo, whenever the spartans are there, is because they have superior fleets. anywhere there are spartans the ground war is always a close call with ungodly losses, or a loss.NickCooley said:

Everybody keeps saying that Spartans are more agile because the Astartes armour is so bulky.

Astartes. They have (In some cases) Centuries of Combat Experience, have incredibly thick Armor, a gun that explodes once inside of you and a Handheld-Vertical Chainsaw. Absolutely no contest.

Yeah, except one Apple is a Seven Foot Tall, genetically modified Killing Machine and the other is a Seven Foot Tall Genetically Modified Killing Machine with 10x the Fanboys. Guess who is who.
Astartes don't go down like a punk immediately after the shields go down. Are probably just as strong if not stronger, and fight with what is basically the boys recoilless rifle mixed with the Halo 1 pistol mixed with an M4. Plus, there are armies of them. Somewhere in the region of 1000 if my knowledge of 40k mythology is up to date. The imperium may be on the decline, but if the covenant were to rear their heads against them, it really wouldn't even be a close fight.
