I can't stand that show. It's single handily responsible for killing the brain cells of hundreds of kids around the world. It's stupid. There is no logic or educational benefit whatsoever. It was made to increase the number of dumb kids so the public schools could feel like they were accomplishing something.

Wait it's been on for ten years now?

That's really long for a kids show. It's a modern kids show to. That makes it even more bizarre.

The earlier episodes were good, and then there was a time where they were hilarious, but these days the show is just another generic pile of shit. At least before they got a little witty.

Well that shows that if you make a good children's show it will live on.
What ever happened to good children's cartoons?

The characters are all so stupid it makes my head hurt.
Wait, are you criticising the characterisation in a kids show? I don't think they aimed to create particularly deep or intelligent characters when they were making the show.

I consider spongebob one of the only good cartoons still around. Sure its stupid but thats why its so bearable it doesn't try to take itself seriously, and thats why it's survived for so long. We need more cartoons like this, Spongebob isn't to blame for stupid ass kids, but the shit they show the babies are, The wiggle, is a prime example.

Early episodes, funny. 4-5 years in, absolutely hilarious. The creator from Ren&Stimpy took over, god awful. *At least, I think he was the one that took over*

wow, amazing

this is one of the only series, along with south park and billy and mandy, where the episodes have just gotten better - from bubble buddy, to the epic episode where they form a marching band, it's been priceless

Pokemon is a kids show and it's still on the air...uhh, actually that may just prove the point of some people in this thread a little bit but some of the episodes do showcase a real sense of reward or consequence, especially the movies and there are some moral choices in the show too.

God, that show is as random as hell.
Which does not, repeat not, equal funny.
I hate people who automatically assume that anything "random" is humerous. Sure, i could stand on a table in my boxers and scream "curtains" but what would that achieve. Clever humour is oh-so much more effective.

The pre-spongebob movie Spongebob Squarepants show was great, that's among one of my favorite cartoon shows that I used to watch. However, I think once the movie aired Spongebob's voice became more gay and so did the show. I absolutely abhor modern cartoons because they seem like only retarded kids watch them. And not retarded kids, just stupid kids. The intelligence level required to watch them has gone so far down. I wish cartoons like Ed Edd and Eddy and the ACME hour would come back for kids to watch.

I've only ever seen one episode, it was pretty funny - Spongebob had to work at the fast food place overnight, and he was scared of the ghost of a guy that died there or something. Later it turned out that this weird noise he kept hearing was being made by Nosferatu in the back room - "Awww, you naughty Nosferatu!" wtf...

But if I have to hear that goddamn Burger King commercial with the "Big Butts" spoof, I might have to brutally murder somebody...

Heh, I've seen a few episodes and have to admit, Patrick's utter retardation is funny as hell.

"working the night shift will be great. it'll be you and me working togethera ll night, then it'll be the morning and we'll still be working. it'll be just like a sleep over, except we'll be all sweaty and covered in grease!!"

and in the first episode when he makes patties with tiny tim playing in the background after the sardines flood the krusty krab... what a truly bizarre sentence in the history of the english language.

there are so many great moments, like the episode where squidward trades everything he owns for a piece of paper

My hands down, favorite moment in Spongebob was in Band Geeks when Spongebob sings at the Bubble Bowl. That floors me to this day.
