They ruined Spyro in the last game. I don't even remember what it was called - it came out like 2 years ago. I cried when I saw it.
He went the same way as Crash Bandicoot, we should count ourselves lucky that Jak, Ratchet, and Sly Cooper haven't been ruined yet.

As for this I could care less, I might check it out if it were a return to comedy, epic bosses, and platforming, but toys dont pique my interest.
Bah Jak and Daxter has already been slightly milked, the racing game and Final Frontier. I just pray they leave it there, that was my all time favourite game/game series/character/duo. You hear me developers, Jak and Daxter is OFF LIMITS!
I actually liked Jak X, continuation of the story, we got to see old favorites and some new characters, and it was a nice racing game to boot, one that actually felt like what would happen if the Jak And Daxter team made a racing game.

It looks like we'll be seeing this more though, after Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts it seems developers are trying to revitalize old franchises in new ways, which may end up going well, or crashing and burning.

Oh man, my parents are lucky I'm grown and out of the house. If I was 7 or 8 years younger I'd be all over this shit.

I feel really bad for the parents who have to put up with their kids asking for a new Spyro toy every couple of days. Activision greed strikes again.

edit: So, I haven't played or even paid attention to Spyro since the original three games. I just did a quick Google search which showed me a screenshot of the new game

Holy fuck balls. What the hell happened to Spyro the Dragon? Inbreeding? Car accident? Someone smash his face in with a frying pan? What was wrong with the original character design? He looks like this sorry animal now

Sad day man.
GAH! The picture of Spyro nearly gave me a heartattack! Who approved this? Who thought this would be a good idea? I mean... THIS?

*cries*

Spyro has the potential to be one of the good 3D platformers of the modern era and you squander it on toys and trading cards!

I'm somewhat nostalgia blinded since I played and still love the original trilogy.

Spyro has been a slow-motion trainwreck since Enter the Dragonfly and people think Sonic's fall from glory was bad? That was nothing compared to the butchering done to this series.

I will admit that I had fun, and that the story was decent, but I was always told that Jak and Daxter 3 was going to be the final game they made, so when I was told about Jak X I was expecting more of the same from the previous two games, and not a racing game... so that slightly ruined the experience for me. Although to be honest, I should have read the back of the box.

I actually didn't mind the most recent Spyro game (dawn of the dragon), it was probably the best spyro game since the original 3, and the first in which you could actually fly at will for any good length of time. It was a nice reboot, good for anyone willing to leave nostalgia at the door. That being said...

What is this.... did nobody who made the reboot trilogy work on this title? Spyro looks like he's gone through a meat grinder.

R.I.P Spyro. I'll always remember you from the old PS1 days before they turned you into a tool to hock toys.

They did this with Crash Bandicoot. They gave him spikey hair and tattos and skinny jeans. They turned him into a douchebag. What the hell ass. Seriously. Why do they insist on raping my childhood? ._.

Wow, I believe I shall get this game for sure. I would bet that the game comes with Spyro at least, and the other toys are "Optional". All the same, sounds cool to me ^~^!

In other words, I am sad that Spyro is getting milked. I hope Crash Bandicoot doesn't get milked by whoever owns that right now.

Calumon: 32? But I don't have that kind of money...
No... Not Crash too, damn you! First it was Sonic, then I lost Spyro to faggotry game design. It took me a long time to get over losing that guy, but as I hadn't really known Sonic as long as others, I thought it could be a wound that heals over time since it was a course most game characters take. Now I see this spoiler, and I hear a horrible destiny planned for Crash too!?? We should defend our memories and the legacy of a good franchise they represent, if kids get hooked on this imagine how obnoxious they'd be! I think the rates of community child abuse would increase, or it'd be a whole generation of kids as dumb as that lot from Jersey Shore. And we, the elder generations, would have to undo the damage Activision had wrought!

I...I want to cry...I liked the Legend Trilogy (except the Eternal Night, that can die...I enjoyed Dawn of the Dragon though) but...please...stop raping the corpse...please stop...let the Dragon be dead...I...I...Let us have a minute's silence for our fallen friend.

For-hire marketing firms usually have psychologists on staff whose specialty is how to manipulate the mind of those they market to.

Ones who target children usually have child psycholgists. Some of them will openly admit that their research specificly deals with how to make sure that children nag their parents to their breaking point for a product, and they even study what that breaking point is so they can make sure they hit it.

Stuff like this is pretty clear proof of that, it's obviously designed to bombard a kid with this pervasive need to constantly acquire new toys and trading cards and bring them all together into this omnipresent connection to the associated game.

I sure hope it's a lot of fun for kids because it's kind of creepy the way it seems designed to manipulate their weaknesses toward torturing their parents into submission.

On one hand it's interesting to see them try something new and interesting.

On the other hand, they couldn't have mishandled the IP any worse.

I think this is brilliant. The character designs look awesome, and the talent they are bringing in sounds impressive. 70 bucks is a little high for me though, plus buying other toys if I want to play with those also.

This is all too expensive to be aiming at young children.

I honestly don't understand the tidal wave of fury that's coming about because of this game. From what I can see Activision has gotten themselves an interesting new mechanic with this figure line and I'll be interested to see how it turns out, might even get into buying some if it's really good.

Also, can we stop deluding ourselves into claiming this is (despite the title) a Spyro game at all? Seems to me more likely that they're sticking a (butt ugly) familiar face on the game purely as a marketing strategy. And who gives a crap if he looks ugly, he's a dragon, not a sex symbol. Plus, from what I've seen so far, you don't have to use him at all in game, ever, if you didn't want to, so if you're that cut up about it, just ignore him all together.

Another thing; where ever did it say you need ALL the figures to play? Nowhere. Buy them all if you like but it seems like, seeing as you get figures with the game, you don't HAVE to make any more purchases after that. How is this any more "greedy" or "money grubbing" than DLC?! The only way I could see it being "exploitative" was if the figures were blindboxed. Which they aren't.

What I think people need to do is look at the bigger picture here, and not let their Spyro fangasms get in the way of what could turn out to be a phenomenon. While I agree this didn't need to be a Spyro game at all, having him in it doesn't make it an abomination of a game. Level heads people, please. If it comes out and it stinks to high heaven, go nuts. But give it a chance to prove itself first, yeah?
