Bear in mind that even non-main series FF games have had the rerelease with decent translation and few other changes treatment. Final Fantasy Tactics, for instance.

I'm looking forward to this. I've never played a Final Fantasy game (I have an aversion to the way the characters look), but I suppose I shouldn't hate what I've never tried. Since VII is supposedly the best (don't quote me saying eight is better or nine or six or one- I don't care), a next-gen remake is the perfect place to try out an FF game.

As for 7... I'd probably get it, but it's not my favourite.

I'd get a remake of VII just because I borrowed it from a friend and liked it enough to maybe replay it.
But I'm with you all the way on the IX point.

Dumb, deaf and blind opinions are hardly worth defending, especially when preached with such personal offense. If he doesn't like FF8 good for him, he wants to cry that its bad fine, but insulting a person just because they like FF8 is ridiculous. He doesn't even offer any reasoning for his opinion.

Anyway back on topic, I've been unable to play FF7 despite downloading (paying even) it because the game simply isn't worth its salt by todays standard, no that's not true, there are plenty of shittier games still coming out, its not worth it by MY standard. I don't deny that during its day the game may have been revolutionary or legendary judging by its reputation, today however its nothing for me.

Personally I much prefer FF8, the gameplay for me was much better because it had depth, the story was interesting (granted I got into it when I was younger) and it seems to me that it could actually stand on its own today. (particularly considering half the shit developers get away with today) Considering this, maybe its just a feat of nostalgia, past FF7 players imagining FF7 to be good enough for today and FF8 players doing the same.

Personally, I loved the way enemies leveled to you. I fucking hated the romance angle, though.

I really liked FFVIII personally; FFVII is in fact my least favourite of the three PS1 FFs.

Where does 9 fit in? It's the top for me, of the PS1 games.

Eight was my favorite because of the junction system and it was the first Final fantasy I ever played.

I didn't particularly like 9, just the look of it got on my nerves in comparison to 7 and 8. Maybe Square Enix could do a remake of all three, since there are probably Final Fantasy fans who weren't old enough when 7,8,9 came out on the PS1. While on that subject, I would like it if square released them for the Xbox 360 too.

Or remake FFVI. I hear that's the best one in terms of story and me growing up with only 3D games has made me unable to keep interest in any 2D game (sad, but true).

why do you want a remake? surely the time and effort could be put into making brand new games. Brand new games that may be good, may be bad, but either way FF7 still exists the way it is
