eh...I want a remake of 8. It's summon oriented and with today's graphix, it'd be even cooler.
Me too, although I do think it might lose its nostalgic value somewhat. It was the first Final Fantasy game I played.

Also, the graphics are hands down the best PS1 graphics I've ever seen. The CG graphics, I think, surpass most PS2 games and are on par with many PS3 games.
I'll have to respectfully disagree on that massive stretch. The hi-res might match some PS2 games, but it's not incredibly clean. It's nowhere near the PS3.
Yea, now that I think about it, you're right. The graphics are great for PS1, but they aren't on PS3 levels.

I guess I was just praising the game that I grew up with.

It's always 7. 7, 7, 7, 7, 7. That's all everyone wants to talk about with the PS1-era Final Fantasys.

I mean, I know few people liked 8, but I'd love to see current-get versions of 6, 8, 9 and Chrono Trigger.

Vwee hee hee!

My thoughts on this are the same as they've always been; it's not a matter of if FFVII will be remade, it's a matter of when. At this point, every Final Fantasy game up to IV has been remade, complete with a graphical facelift, a script re-translation and additional content for those who mastered the game the first time around. V and VI have both been ported at least once, and though they haven't been graphically updated, they, too, have received script touch ups and new content. Even the original Final Fantasy Tactics was dusted off, polished and made new again for its PSP debut.

To think that Square-Enix would stop this trend just prior to Final Fantasy VII, arguably the most popular game of the franchise, is foolish.

OT: I love how they constantly tease the fans. It must be how they spend their lunch breaks.
Yeah its starting to seem like they are getting a great deal of enjoyment out of tormenting us.

get good voice actors and don't change anything else,
Yeah I hope once they do make the remake they bring everyone back from Advent Children, Last Order, and Crisis Core

Personally I rather enjoyed FFVIII and Rinoa was a favorite; yes I said that and I meant it! The qualm with FFVIII is how immensely broken it was given you could acquire the Lionheart in less than five bloody hours of gameplay furthermore the junction system encouraged you not to level up barring the exception you longed for a challenge (I did myself) and to conclude two additional issues, GFs are mind numbingly worthless in battle and the plot twist on the third disc was mind numbingly horrible. Easily one of the worst I have seen in recent memory.

That aside, an entertaining and worthwhile game and one I frequently hold preference to over its predecessor.

Am i the only one that has lost faith in Final Fantasy? i mean, 12 was just plain out bad, and the 1st final fantasy to get a direct sequal was 10?! "no Remake for the time being." whatever, just shut up and improve your games in general.

on that note, Remake 8 like you planed and then ill be happy.

The game is barely 12 years old, it doesn't need a remake. Its not like FF games are very different from one another, its all just a lot of cinematics, linearity, and turn based combat every half hour. Why not stop making games and make animated movies? (oh yeah, because not allot of people would watch that).
the games are actually alot different, i loved 7 (for the story/ good vs evil guys end battle) and 9 was also really good, and was different alot, and i hated 8, it shouldn't be a final fantasy, the system was so janky and different i hated playing through the first two discs that i stopped and sold it for whatever price i could get, they lost all momentum of 7 into that game, i didn't mind hte characters besides the ultimecia chick, she was complete shite, such a step down from any other baddies in any other game, even the judges from XII were way better than her for antagonists

OT: i've never played 6 but i have heard good things, i'd like to have a 3D game with lots of good voice acting..that'd get me to get it for sure, if i picked it up now i dont think it would be as enjoyable since the times are a changin.. so that would be my first recommendation, then maybe a 7 and a 9

The way I see it is this...

There will be eventually remakes of FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX. It's just a matter of when Square-Enix will announce if they're making them, and when they'd be released. There's already been remakes of I through VI already, mainly for the GBA and DS but still are remakes. More than likely, they'll either release them one at a time or release the three all together as some kind of special triple-pack. And they'd most likely have the following in them...

1) Improved graphics...duh.
2) Changes to spell names in FFVII, like Fire 2 to Fira, while adding new spells or techniques to all three games.
3) Changes to dialouge in the games, especially FFVII. No more Aeris and hello to Aerith, and no more Barret acting like Mr T. Hopefully Cid will still be foul-mouthed.
4) New armor and/or weapons in all three games, new materia in FFVII, New GF's in FFVIII, and new side quests in all three games.
5) New monsters, locations, and dungeons in all three games.
6) New super optional bosses in all three games. Those who thought Ruby and Emerald Weapon were tough in VII, Omega Weapon from VIII was hard, and Ozma from IX was trouble will be in for even tougher bosses.
7) New music, and I'll be looking forward to that a lot.
8) And possibly even replay modes in all three, in which in replay you get to go to a special super dungeon where the most powerful super boss in the game awaits.

I really don't think Final Fantasy should be remade. I mean, for all we know, it can end up being complete trash. Plus, think about how much time it would take to rebuild that game from the ground up for the PS3. That can be a lot of money and man-power wasted.

On a side note, am I the only one who would rather see Final Fantasy IX be remade or re-released? Preferably on the PC. I found that game's story much more enjoyable, for being a classic, yet cliched, romance.

I keep hearing talks of 7, 8 and 9, yet Sakaguchi's masterpiece starring the insane clown is forgotten. Where is our FF6 REMAKE (i.e. not a port)? All the previous final fantasy titles got one on the DS and the one that deserves the most recognition only gets ports? Really?
VI was my all time favorite hands down but i almost wouldnt want to see it redone because of the whole favorite book to movie thing. LIke when you read a book you like to picture things your way but when you see the movie you cant not see how they portray characters. I like my VI just the way it is
I agree and disagree somewhat. I would love to see it done correctly, but I would be terrified if, for example, they picked terrible voices for the characters.
exactly cause Setzer has my voice and hes so awesome ahah

Why the hell is should we get a remake for a game that seems perfectly fine on it's own and is already available in PSN store?

There is no point for any people to create any more fanwanks(God how I hate you, Advent Children) for the obnoxious fanboys and scary fangirls, who has blinded themselves from any other game that is equally good or even better than Final Fantasy 7, because "it isn't as good". It also alienates everyone else that are not FF7 fans from the start.

Do not make FF7 remake, and keep it that way.

Not to mention, the greatest video game remake AKA. Metroid Zero Mission, has already been made.

AAARRGH comon! Nintendo fanboys dont have to wait long for their next 2D mario game. Where is my old fashioned turn-based JRPG?!

I went out and bought a copy of FF7 for PC, so I could mod it to higher res models. Looks great, but I still pine for a remake.

There should have been two at this stage, I mean FF7 is only the most loved JRPG ever.

Exactly, why should Square put any effort in at all when they can shovel up the same old creaky old poorly scripted non-proofread tat and people will lap it up ;)
