Maybe when portable systems get a little more powerful. Maybe.

Hey, I can hope, right?

Why the hell is should we get a remake for a game that seems perfectly fine on it's own and is already available in PSN store?
Exactly, why should Square put any effort in at all when they can shovel up the same old creaky old poorly scripted non-proofread tat and people will lap it up ;)
That was Sarcasm wasn't it?
Mostly it's annoyance that Final Fantasy 7 is still the only one without a decent translation, and in the PSN release Square couldn't be arsed even to correct the spelling mistakes which the entire internet has mocked by now (Off Course!), even though they have a proofread script in there somewhere (they used it for the PC version).

Let alone overhaul the interface properly so they can have spell names more than five characters long, have a decent readable font, etc etc. Which they even managed to do in GBA Tiny-O-Vision.

Here's a hoot, why doesn't Sony tell Squaresoft Square-Enix to remake this game in awesome new graphics. Everything else is already done and i swear to god they WILL break ridiculous sales records for an RPG if they release this game. Although making us wait till all the PS3 exclusives die out wouldnt be a bad idea either...nm Square-Enix STAY THE COURSE :D

I can't stand JRPG's but FFVII was something else. Sat down to play it to see what all the fuss was about and before i knew it i had played it for 8 hours straight <.< crazy when a JRPG could hook me like that.

If they do remake it tho i mite actually get to play the game thru and finish it, instead of just the first 8 hours XD

Its simply not cool. and some of my friends who have not played it say due to the 'nature of the series' they can't do a remake out of tradition. which is rediculas as they have remade some games already. I have a 360 but, if this was to happen and only for pS3 then out of need to play the game again. but lets not forget there were MANY flaws and faults within FF7, I'll leave you to speculate what they are but if they run through that game with a fine tooth comb, add some kind of skip dialouge feature, then were cookin. and if there was one on the 360 as square is expanding their horizions so to speak, then I would have to 100% 1000/1000 the achievments. even if I had to get that stupid black chocobo again. it would be a duty as a gamer. so me at least

True, how freaking long did it take Final Fantasy 3 to get some fucking love PERIOD, (the actual 3 not 6-3) I mean it innovated the FF Job System, I think it innovated a lot of things but until the DS arrived NO ONE could play it.
Although with Final Fantasy 3 they had the excuse that they'd lost the source code, whereas they had all the source for the other games, so they were easy to update the graphics, put some new dungeons together, and rerelease. They got halfway through doing a Wonderswan version of 3 before the platform died on it's arse and didn't get a satisfactory version finished until the DS one.

It doesnt take a brain surgeon to see there is much money to be made if they did. and Sir I said "TELL" not "MAKE" Sony can sure tell them to but the choice is still theirs.

Look at what Infinity Ward did, they remade a gimpier version of CoD4 and made a butt load of money off of it :p (sarcasm if your too thick to realize)

And yes Graphics does matter, anyone who says they don't enjoy a game more with better graphics is a bold face liar given the choice. i <3 my God of War HD

FF7 With FF13 graphics .... nothing will ever be the same again after this.
Do graphics really matter? just some good ones are best, I mean hell 6 is still in the sprite days and it's one of the best.
One of the things that would improve FFVII is a consistent graphical style for things made out of polygons. As it stands, there are the way things look in the environment screens, the way they look in battle, and the way they look in cutscenes, and they're all different.

Redoing the out of battle stuff with the in-battle models would be a big improvement in expressiveness and seamless experience.

If they remade FF7, it would be the BIGGEST cash generator ever when you think of worldwide popularity and cat ear owning fans like myself. Still, I hope and wait

I don't get why enix went to soo much trouble remaking the first scene for the playstation and decide not to reap some reward from it.
Yes they probably got paid quite alot of money for it, but if i was ceo of enix i would see something in that!
I think their going to carry on remaking the older games then do a subtle bypass of 7 and 8, as an insurance incase times get bad! then they will wip them games up from nowhere, and now look here they're back in the clear again, just in time to tease us with sequials and all sorts of things to buy!
It's probably another reason their holding of the release of kingdom hearts 3 and instead released a ds game.

I wouldn't mind a remake, but if it's only to update the graphics... What would be the point? you don't need next gen graphical engines to make a good game, you need to MAKE a good game.

I can see why square-enix keeps teasing with this remake, most of their latest FFs have been.. well, less than good (if not downright Horrible: yes X-2 and XII this is for you two specifically!). X was very good but the history was a little too forced. and the online one... well we all know what a MMORPG is so let's leave it at that. and from what I have seen until now of XIII, I'm afraid that it's not going to be that great either. Square is just baiting in case they need something to revive the franchise from the bottomless pit they are sending it, and what better way to do it that with the game that made them go mainstream outside japan in the first place?

So I say remake is OK, but for the love of whatever god you believe in, make INNOVATIVE, and above all: GOOD games. gamers should ask for quality in design not just pretty graphics

and just to clarfy my first statement, I believe VII is a GREAT game, it is one of my favorite JRPGs along with IX and some other older ones of the franchise

Spelling error doesn't justify a remake.
