I just want to stop you here. I hated FFIX with a burning passion. Almost as much as I hate VIII's story and characters. IX was a pathetic attempt to recapture the greatness of FFVI and the previous titles. The battle system was a drag, much to slow a pace to maintain my interest. The characters were dull and the entire universe was flat.Littaly said:

Square Enix hasn't really made any remakes of FF7, hell people actually want a remake of FF7, they are just pumping out spin offs that really just have character cameos at best. I still give Nintendo the milk to death franchise award because their games are more sequel/remakey than anyone in the business.AjimboB said:

Kitase and Nomura didn't design XIII. That's Motomu Toriyama. In fact, past the character designs for the lead party members Nomura had jack and shit to do with XIII. Get your facts straight, Escapist.
As for this news... yeeeah, not sure how much I care at this point. I just played Birth by Sleep on the PSP. Fine game design, AWFUL writing. Like, the WORST I've seen out of a game in years. I don't expect any subsequent titles to go better, so I'm making it the very last Square-Enix game I ever buy.

Square, we liked FFVII, but ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN SPINOFFS! Advent Children was a technical marvel with a crappy plot/script, Dirge was one of the WORST TPS's in history, and Crisis Core was shallow fan service that only served to further overcomplicate the game's already complex plot. Let go of the title and move on to new stuff. Like, I dunno, the Ogre Battle Saga

actually you should make a place for me too there 4 what i'm gonna say. The fact is every person using a sword in shinra was juiced up on Jenova steroids, Especially clouds over juiced ass having so much of the steroid abuse that he actually went comatose for a while and was psychotic as well. I like final fantasy 7 and i enjoy the character nostalgia in kingdom hearts but i've pretty much moved on and unless they plan to remake the original in a completely different format of game play, i don't wanna here a nother bloody thing about it. I wanted Before Crisis because i want to know the story but i went online and read the story and watched gameplay video nearly 6 years ago. Stop fucking with my head square and just finish the only final fantasy game i have been waiting for: VS 13. (never gave a shit about 13 and probably never will play it)oranger said:

Anyone notice how much the Turks look like Organization XIII in that picture? I know it's just Nomura's art style, but damn.
I'd happily play a game about the Turks, especially if it gives them a little more character development. Tseng plays a fairly important role in the story, as seen in the short anime movie "Last Order", and it'd be nice to see that playable.
Still feels like a cash-in, though, Squeenix.

Why not remake Final Fantasy VII on the 3DS, or the DS for that matter? Their graphical capabilities are similar to the Playstation so Square could basically make the game a simple port of the original. Maybe make the text boxes and menus pop up on the bottom screen and update the prerendered cinematics.
