I agree Cantfakethefunk, they should just remake it so that we can stop asking for it. I like that idea.
Mmmmmmmeh. If I were them, I wouldn't want to waste a second on remaking it, especially when there are more Final Fantasy titles in production. Of course, I've never really seen the allure of FFVII, but meh, that's just me.
I absolutely loved it, and while I'd love to see a remake (understand, most of the gripe is coming from the original tech demo that Sony showed in what...2005 prior to the PS3's launch? Of a revamped FFVII intro), I haven't been foaming at the mouth for one. As I said though, just doing the remake would be great so it'd silence everyone asking for it, and allow the world to collectively move on to something else. heh.
What? It wouldn't make them shut up at all! Not only would it mean that FF7 would be even more accessible to a current generation of gamers that didn't play the original, it'd open the forums to requests for other titles to be remade, thus continuing the problem! And considering all the crap that's been made for FF7 fans, I don't think they deserve the whole game a second time 'round.

I said it before, and I'll say it again... I don't see the appeal of the game. I like Final Fantasy games, but 7 is my least favorite out of all the ones I played. The music is good, that's all it has going for me.

I want them to remake FF8 just to annoy people.
That would be funny! And personally, I'd be just as inclined to buy 8 as 7. Niether of them were favorites of mine.
Indeed it would be, especially if the remake goes to the DS, like IV or III. Personally, I'd prefer a remake of FFVI that I can find (even the one for GBA is impossible to find for me) or FFIX.

I dunno, that still doesn't read like a "No" to me, it says "Not right now".

Maybe they want to milk the PSN release, I mean would you have buy it if you knew a next-gen re-make was on the way?

I'm not saying it is coming, but that quote reads like spin to me, Tony Blair would be proud.

At this point, honestly, I just kind of want Square to remake Final Fantasy VII to make the fans stop asking about a remake of Final Fantasy VII already. I guess some things never die, no matter how much they ought to.
Yup. Thats what I've been thinking for a while...

Bring out VIII and IX for the PSN first, then I might care for a remake 6 years from now.

I never understood why people hate FF.
The new ones are overdesigned and overbudget pieces of poo, but up through FFX they were great.
FF7 honestly was my favorite, however it was not THAT much better than the rest of them.....
also, NOT the greatest game of all time. Legend of Dragoon was a game in just the same genre that was better than FF7.

They should remake it to make the massive amounts of money off of it, and they would only really need to do a half-ass job too.

I wish square would just concentrate on their real gem... Secret of Mana. Remake that. No more terrible sequels though.

Well, speaking from a monetary stand point, S-E would be foolish not to. With the success of Bionic Commando: Rearmed, we can certainly draw the conclusion that any remade game, done well, and with the spirit of the original in mind, will make money hand over fist.

As for deserve? I dunno, I think largely, you're hearing from people who've already played the game, and would love to see it happen again. Additionally, and going by rough numbers here since vgchartz is usually lowballing numbers, it's the highest selling FF game of all time. By almost 2 million units.

Hell, I'd be happy if they took FFVII and just recreated it with Crystal Tools, no new fangled engine, just use what they have. Plain and simple. It'd sell like a crack+heroine+oxycontin hybrid.
Alright, that's fair enough, just say that next time. I maintain, however, that it wouldn't stop any of the screams of the FF fan for remakes, and that Square-Enix already has projects underway they'd want to focus on first. Plus, it's probably rather insulting to them that while they're making two new installments of the series, everyone's just complaining that they want an old game remade, so I doubt any of them particularly want to make concessions at this point.

Wait, how can you call games that haven't come out yet bad, in good conscience? As far as I remember, the only one that isn't an mmo to come out was XII. One game hardly creates a trend.

Why dosen't square understand that nobody wants the crap they make nowadays? You would think that they would take a step back and try to implement what made VII such an epic game into their new offerings. They have been going downhill for years now IMO.

I thought that the original concern was only that even if they were to consider remaking it, they'd want the full original dev team that worked on FF7 to begin with, which, needless to say, is impossible.
