I can understand missions being on rails, though they should make a 'custom game' version that works similar to battlefront 2's space combat.

Why is it that galaxies could pull off some pretty sweet free world flying but a game how many years later can't...

If i want a fly forward shooter I would hop in the gummi ship for Kingdom Hearts 2. Which if the trailer is anywhere near the initial product, Kingdom Hearts seems to have done it better. Which actually sounds really sad saying it out loud then it did inside my head.
You do realize the flying in TOR isn't an integral part of the game (from what I understand at least). I'm not saying they hashed it in there just for the hell of it; I mean, this is Bioware we are talking about, they tend to make quality stuff and with good reasoning and intentions. I would love to play an EVE detailed Star Wars space combat mmo, but the KotOR universe and TOR isn't built around space combat, nor should it necessarily be. I'm just glad they have something like that in there, and the fact that it resembles a game that has a spot close to many gamers' hearts.
KOTOR wasn't about Massive multiplayer either, games progress and change. Not everyone is happy with it going MMO but I'm stoked. If there was 0 space combat I'd have probably got the game anyway. The rail shooter will serve as a grim reminder of how much dissapointment I felt when I realized I was not getting, Xwing v Tie-fighter, nor even EVE. I was getting starfox 64, with no all range mode. I love SF64... but I wanted MMO dogfights so bad I could taste it. I'm gonna go cry about it.

Tom, do these guys pay your wage or what ?

The MMO is already pretty huge with the none instance railed crap, without adding the cheap theatrics...to be honest I was intrested in the MMO until they tossed in the cheap WoW like bomb run activities, yes WoW like as it has many of those rail guided flight sequences in since TBC.

Ok, it may look good but whats the cost ? A loading screen to your ship and then a tour guide flight from one site to another. I prefer less loading screens and more immersion... ok so I wont have R2D2 as a personal ***** but at least I wont be at the mercey of my HDD loading times.
Are you for real mate? WoW's bombing runs have you stuck to a gryphon dropping bombs where you have no control over anything but point-and-clicking on the ground, this is nothing like that.

Second, why a personal jab at a reporter for reporting and saying he likes what he sees (especially as it's not at all an uncommon opinion), that's about what every single article in the News Room is about (although the personal taste varies so not everything gets a thumbs up).

Loading screen? First of all, there may not be one, TOR has already said they wouldn't have any for flashpoints on the map and such, so this might be the same, I think they were up for a loading-screen-free game. Second, the hell does it matter, your HDD is your own fault and problem, get a new one if it bothers you, it has nothing to do with the quality of the game.

Anyway, OT: It looks pretty good, I was on the fence with space combat before, but this doesn't look hard to get into and certainly has an epic feel to it from the first glance. To the people complaining about no space combat multiplayer, I get ya, but keep in mind it'll be added later on (wonder if it'll still be on rails though?), I think the idea is to give us a taste of the space combat and weed out the bugs/get a feel of how the players play it before they throw in the multiplayer aspect.

Also, tbh, it'll get more people interested that way. If it went out at start, those attracted to it would go for it, while others may avoid it entirely because there's a whole game out there to play. When it gets added in a content patch/expansion (hopefully/likely imo the former), people will give it a chance just to see the aspect of something new.

As a side-note, it seems like Bioware never does anything wrong.
Except for making an MMO instead of a real KOTOR RPG.
agreed, cant we just hook up all the warcraft players to the matrix (beta), and just eliminate them from the market already
