Steam may not be your go-to spot for sexy titles - mainly because the platform announces to all of your friends what you're playing.
Fixed that for ya. I mean sure, censorship kinda kills the point too, but part of why I'd never get a game like Sakura Spirit on Steam is because the instant I boot it up, all of my friends will know that I'm playing it (and even if there's a way to disable that, it'll show on my profile that I've been playing it). Games like that don't really interest me in general (if I want porn, I'd rather just get right to it instead of having to faff-about with a story mode), but Steam is the last place I'd get one if I were into them.

Today Steam, tomorrow the Escapist magazine?

Also, maybe Steam needs to open a European market, or at least non-Yank, where boobles aren't that big of a deal.

You know, Fox news -as zindine100 joked- will catch wind of this and the title will be pulled. Even if Fox News misses it thanks to another Trump dump of nonsense, some other group will.
You do realize that Fox News is not the government, right? They don't have the power to just burst into Valve's offices with machine guns and loudly demand that they pull a game from their store.

Steam has never been in the habit of banning games on account of "boobles"; otherwise The Witcher and Grand Theft Auto V (and possibly even IV? I'm not acquainted because the PC version is buggery on toast) would never have gotten on there. I have a hunch that any anime games on Steam that have been censored were either more explicit than that or were submitted in already-censored form by their creators out of paranoia or controversy-courting.

So Steam have finally caught up to not banning content which mainstream TV shows have been showing off for years now?

Good for them. Also that they like Yuri [http://store.steampowered.com/app/397270] in general.

Why is Katawa Shoujo getting name dropped everywhere? Is it the only VN anyone knows around these parts or something because erotic or lewd is the last thing I would ever call that game. I'd namedrop Grisaia No Kaijitsu (that's The Fruit of Grisaia on Steam, buy now beat the rush) over KS if you want to talk good VNs with sex scenes. Someone else referenced G-String but that's a mystery story with like one sex scene. Well, one canon sex scene because every route that isn't Haru's is a filthy lie.
Hey, I namedropped Shiawase no Katachi (Figures of Happiness). Don't I get some street cred? ;_;
Sorry but I only hand out my street cred points to people who namedrop G-String, Grisaia, Umineko No Naku Koro Ni, Comyu or Sharin no Kuni, don't you know. In terms of proper eroge it'll be Monster Girl Quest which gives you double points for the namedrop because that game is so good it makes all other eroge i've played since look so fucking terrible T_T

I see all these people saying that it is impossible for porn to be art or whatever and I have an urge to ***** at them to play MGQ so they can see how wrong they were.

I think I lucked out, playing my own superlatively-good eroge (Yume Miru Kusuri) so early in my career. Very few things since then have compared to Aeka's route (pretty much just Kana: Little Sister and Fal's route in Symphonic Rain), but I don't really require them to.

Incidentally, of those, only played Grisaia so far (and only partway into one route), but the others are on the playlist. Except Comyu, I forget what that is.

I dunno, everything I hear about MGQ makes it sound a little too rapey for my tastes.

But yeah, annoys me, too. Didn't mention it to that guy who got banned, but I wasn't offended so much by his insinuation about other people masturbating to these games, but that he somehow believed that was mutually exclusive to reading for the story. There's a movie quote that encompasses that.

"I personally appreciate an attempt at telling a story. When I care more about the characters, I care more about the fuckin'."

I wonder if this is an actual policy change on Valves part, or if they just really hate penises.

So does that open the doors to all porn games? I do wonder where they are going with this.
And if they are in for the full scope there is a flood coming that no valve can stop... seriously Valve you need some proper filters before this shit happens.
Previously, games with nudity tended to only be allowed if they were action games completely or at least mostly unconcerned with romance, like Bioware games or God of War/Dante's Inferno. (I'm sure there's semantics regarding "mostly" but you should understand my point).

This is, to my knowledge, the first ROMANCE game on Steam that doesn't censor anything. That's a pretty significant distinction, but not a big step. I highly doubt they'll go much further than this. It's a romance VN, not a porn VN, as fuzzy as a distinction as it is.

If a book store has a 'romance' section, why shouldn't Steam? There's a line between written smut and written romance, and so too is there a line between porn games and romance games.

Holy shit.

Which reminds me. Can we have an Adult section on Steam? It'd be better than mingling all these sex and non-sex titles into one giant Steam Soup.

Can I get some points for finishing all of those? Except Comyu, I just started that one.

Also Muv-luv, Hanachirasu, and a bunch of other shit you probably haven't heard about. Gnerk.

The late, great Tom Lehrer had a song that I think encompasses my feelings on this one:

Although they're gonna need a stronger age check system if they go whole hog with adult content if only to stop themselves getting sued. Although I can't think of one that wouldn't also be SUPER invasive or ask a bit much of you.

Yo that "one route" in Grisaia best be Based Girl Michiru or i'm going to have to deduct some street cred from you.

MGQ is rapey as fuck, except only if you lose surprisingly enough. The combat in that game is very well designed and it's not like some other eroge I could name where you literally have to grind deaths to improve your stats to even stand a chance.

[sub][sub]Fuckin' Violated Hero...[/sub][/sub]

In MGQ it's very possible to finish the game without seeing anything other than the ten or so mandatory sex scenes and almost all of those are with the main heroine of the game. To put it into context, there's probably over 150 sex scenes in the game and i'm not even taking into account multiple possible scenes from one single enemy.

I think that's how the story gets away with being so lighthearted and comedic in a sort of "i'm not having sex with you for your own good" way, that and how cutting a monster to ribbons doesn't kill her, it seals her for a little while cuz magic sword. I mean Luka going on about how he wants peace between monsters and humans while cutting a bloody swathe through them would be a little disingenuous. When you beat an area, it somehow turns into a happy ending no matter what. It's a parody/celebration of typical JRPG tropes while being a fantastic JRPG on its own merits.

It has a great sense of humour too, one good thing about losing is Illias and her Evaluation Meetings where she rants at you for losing, gives you tips about how to win, gives you one final insult then respawns you back at the fight because fuck reason, she's a goddess so she can do that.

...because she's the only one worth dropping partway through? I started to like her a lot in the Common Route, honestly.

No, I'm currently stalled partway through Amane's route. Had to take one break after hitting the sex scenes from her perspective, because learning why she's holding herself so sexually available was badly unnerving. Came back, and then went on hiatus after a cute scene where she and Yuuji are discussing their future together, including the off-chance if Amane got pregnant. Since Yuuji's response was perfect ("Well, I have enough savings to support us until I can apply for a desk job..."), and it's been implied to me that things rapidly go to hell pretty soon (something involving the words "angelic howl," which unlike "would you kindly" I can't even begin to guess the significance of).

Not that I'm not going back to the game at some point. Chiruchiru, Sachi, and Nega-squid are all waiting. I just have trouble walking into stories where I know things are going to get terrible for the characters. Same principle that kept me away from Muv-Luv, I'm depressed enough as is without seeking it out in my escapist works.

That actually sounds like a drastically-improved version of Raidy (or maybe a slightly-improved Sengoku Rance), and if you're really not penalized in any way for not getting any Bad Ends, the rest of it sounds pretty appealing. I think you've swung me.

Yeah, Grisaia is like that. Hook them in with a legitimately hilarious Common Route then slap them in the face with maximum feels. I really liked Michiru's Route, Sachi and Yumiko take a close second and third place. I could never get through the amount of sex scenes in Amane's Route but I hear it gets good and a friend completed Makina's Route first before I started it and it totally broke him so I have all of the details from him. Fuckin' Frontowingu making the adorable loli character the most emotionally scarring one...

And yeah I hope you do try MGQ. I keep meaning to continue with Sengoku Rance too but I think there's a little bit too much game in there. I'm so sure it's taking the piss out of itself though, god that H scene music [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GauhWG340dI] was so out of nowhere. I could not believe my ears. Then the honest to god electric guitar solo kicks in at 20 seconds and I actually started laughing.

I can't be the only person who thought this was about the character Yuri from Red Alert 2. It would certainly give new meaning to the phrase "be one with Yuri" if it was.

But fictional anime boobies? IN MY STEAM! YOU MONSTERS!

Ill go back to ripping peoples spines out and holding their heads up like trophies... much more "adult" then some softcore porno pictures in a VN why thank you.

Seriously people.. get your priorities straight.

Everyone who feels weirded out about this should take a good close look at what is depicted in other "adult" titles. Now whats more questionable? Some anime softcore pics or getting sawed in half by a buzzsaw?

Get to grips with your own sexuality and stop treating it like something everyone should be ashamed about.
