Aren't all stereotypes wrong? I thought that's why they were stereotypes.

- chinese people are gamblers. oh wait that's true.
- black people are better sprinters than all other races. damn, that's also true.
- people who obsess over using the searchbar are inconsolable freaks. ok, i'll admit it, i'm no good at this.

I'm English, from the South and white.

I drink tea and love a good crumpet, am useless at foreign languages, sarcastic to the bone, enjoy a game of cricket every now and then, can't dance for a fine slice of cheddar and I'm very good at heading evil corporations which almost take over the world before being thwarted by the All-American Action Hero.

Also I'm surprised that the Irish are still being stereotyped as the heavy drinkers. Not that I know any Irish people or have ever been to Ireland... Or even an Irish themed bar, but the point is I know many Englishmen who go out most if not every night just to get completely smashed and I seriously wonder how the Irish can be any worse and how we get away with it...

But I must add: my teeth are fine, thank you very much.

If you rub an asian you will have luck in video games and score top on the leaderboards? not true... i tried...

I guess my ethnic...thingy is Canadian? or french canadian whatever you want to call it (my family is from Canada) and i don't think they have a stereotype but for the most part i believe most Stereotypes are in fact.... correct to some extent but for the most part wrong. I've seen plenty of Irish Blood people that drink... alot
We drink a lot when we go to partys not that much when just lying around tbh.

I would say that i doubt all americans are stupid but my family in new jersey are DUMB and there the only americans ive really been in contact with for an extended period of time.

JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T FIT INTO A STEREOTYPE, THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT ANY LESS TRUE.

Every single stereotype is a generalisation of real occurences. Some stereotypes are old, dated and need to die, but they were formed because they were (at least once) true.

Wiggers need to retard themselves out of existence. Your basketball top doesn't make you hip or cool. Your rap music blaring out of the phone tucked into your baggy pants that unironically say "THUG" on them does not make you trendy. The fact that you have friends similar to you does not make you any less of a tool. It makes all your friends tools as well.

Dose that description remind you of someone you've seen? Someone you know maybe? Thats because its a generalisation of the real world. A stereotype.

Often the difference is in the fine print but all stereotypes have their basis somewhere. 1 person can spoil 10 peoples images. Stereotypes are real and have basis.

I am a trekkie, they are stereotyped as all middle aged ugly men that are bigger and have no lives.

I am quite young, NOT bigger however I dont have a life :S.

I geuss the Australian stereotype is spot on in some cases, people think we are easy going and sit around watching telly having a beer. I can say a lot of us are easygoing, not sure about the whole 'telly and a beer' thing, I am sure it is true for a lot of us just not me : D.

"Fair shake of the suace bottle Mate". < Our Prime Ministers slogan -_-

Christians are stupid hateful people. I don't think I am (although I think someone will probably say something to the contrary).

As far as I can tell most Stereotypes about the French are untrue... or apply purely to Parisians. In fact, 2 weeks in France and I met one rude French person, however he was a public transit worker and that may have had something to do with it.
really? because one week in france and i don't even think i met one nice frenchman. they were all rude buggers... and they couldn't wait in line either. in disneyland, i had to organise a little floodgate with one of my mates to stop them trickling past us on our way to pirates of the caribbean...

Well, one stereotype I was always baffled by was the WWII-era Japanese stereotypes. Everyone in America thought all Japanese were bone thin, wore huge horn-rimmed glasses, had thin mustaches and constantly sported ridiculously goofy toothed grins. I know this is a caricature of Tojo, but did they seriously think every Japanese looked like that?

By the way, I'm not Japanese. I'm a Jewish American of Polish, Belorussian, and Austrian decent. Which defies the stereotype that the people on this forum would only talk about their own stereotypes. Ha!
