I'm with you on that. I hate it when a game tries to rush me, I like making my own pace goddamn it...

Even when it seems realistic for you to be against time at that moment I still hate it, I hate being rushed and I usually panic and end up dying.

FF9 is my favourite by far, and I must have completed it around 10 times, but I find it such a pain to do everything before Evil Forest now, mainly because it's all slow introductions and scene setting.
I always dread any of the trials in the Oddworld games. Paramonia. Scrabania. Mudunchee and Mudumo... you haunt my dreams... Oh god the Fleeches...

You might have misunderstood me, I meant the repetitiveness of the fights in some dungeons.

It's like you beat some big spiders, go into the next room some more spiders, into an another, more spiders, etc.

Oh, and I'd also like to add Assassin's Creed unskippable cutscenes.

Hey, I always thought it was just me! Sometimes I get the urge to pick this one up. Usually around the second town, I remember that only one or two characters were not painfully annoying/abrasive, and I quit. If I'm lucky, I can just thumb through the manual and get the same reminder.

I actually picked up Crisis Core the other day, and I was brutally reminded how much I HATE HATE HATE HATE random battles! CC was particularly bad, as the battle happened on the level map, and it was possible to finish a fight further back than you started. I once ended up on the wrong side of the room after a fight, and before Zack even got ONE MOTHERLOVING FRAME into his walk animation, I got into another battle.

I agree! I love DA:O, but honestly. Game design should have evolved past the need for this stuff by now.

I also have to second whoever mentioned the Fade level. Ugh. It's the ultimate example of this. I get so bored that I just make someone else play it for me.

Oh yes, every time I reach the Sea water caves, after the mandatory running in circles to make Vi unconscious and force her in(I'm not the only one who does that, right?), I cast soul shield on every fight asap and mentally prepare myself for the worst. But we have to give credit to Nessie for being one of the two, maybe three truly difficult and rewarding fights in a game, that's otherwise attrition-based(and I'm certainly not counting the final fight among those - the Savant is a wimp compared to Nessie!) :)

Also, for me, it would be warrens of the Damned in VTM: Bloodlines, as well as that house on the hill where the gore short clip was shot. ew. I never actually started a second hero on that game because of that.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion - One of the worst all-round games I've ever played, but nobody seems to share my opinion. I ususally give the game another chance once a year, and every time I turn away in disgust at all the things wrong with it...

First dungeon of Baldur's Gate 2 - The best game ever made and its only real weakness is the atrocious opening dungeon. After the first run or two through it, you just wish you could skip it. Thankfully, there are mods for that...

Odd that Taris in KoTOR hasn't been mentioned yet, or Peragus/Telos in KoTOR2. People have actually made mods to skip them.

The racing part in Mafia, I believe it was in chapter 5. I really hated that. It was so insanely difficult I actually used a cheat to win the race after countless efforts. It's a classic game, a masterpiece. But I curse that racing bit. I CURSE IT.

Assassins creed has a bad case of this. Fairly good game let down by some appalling crap side missions. Collecting flags in Acre made me mad enough to punch my desk.

They never FORCED you to do this. Unless you wanted acheivements, such as find the flags and complete all investigations.
