So this cartoon is from two years ago and all you had to do to make it current was put a 2 on the end of Modern Warfare and Bad Company?
Now how's that for progress![HEADING=1]SIGH[/HEADING]
I think that was the point.

He's showing how little things seem to have changed.

It's funny to see games marketed as realistic when they have a single person going up against an entire alien race and is able to nearly instintaniously recover from injuries.

I want to see a FPS level in a volcano where you have to avoid the lava and falling rocks.

Awesome comic, Shamus.
Instead of simply being overcome by the toxic gas?
Well, there could be a timer, but everyone knows that as long as you don't touch the lava, [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ConvectionSchmonvection] you'll be perfectly safe.

Now that I've distracted you, I make my escape.

Don't forget the cloned backgrounds, the technicolor clone henchmen and the god awful vehicle/escort missions that seem to just be pulled from one old game and shoved into a newer one.

Awww, I was actually hoping for a real scoring system

I know the first two were right, but who gives a crap about low-res McBoringLandscape in the third?

Lets see:

+1/2 for games I give a crap.

-0 for money wasted.

Ha! Good thing I borrow all my games from my friends.

They're all fun. It's just that they all feel like they came off the same assembly line.
You are not being fair to Fallout 3 on this. Apologize, or I will put you on my black list of "people who mess with Fallout 3".

That list is going to 47, once I have the money.

Shamus have you tried Natural Selection? Because that is a Shooter with Base Building if your playing as the Marines of course! Most Awesome shooter of the good old days. And they are developing NS with the current Source Engine! \o/
Replace bolded bit with "with the brand new, 100% owned by the developers, Spark engine!" and you'll be perfectly accurate. (By the way, they've released several builds of the map editor and the Engine Test for pre-orderers already)

Ever played multiplayer C&C Renegade (or Renegade X, it's unofficial UT3 remake)? Fun, if hard not to get run over.

I think the colorful scenery and enemies was one of the reasons I liked Halo so much. At least it didn't try to depress you when you were trying to have fun...

As much as I despise Halo 2 (the pacing killed the game for me, just couldn't care after bringing down the Scarab) I have to admit, you have a very good point.

How could you neglect Half Life in the category of "Shooty McNoncharacter VS. the aliens"? It's what inspired that entire movement!

I kina like the first picture... I would play one shooter that takes place there. Only one. A good one. When the time comes. That time has not come yet.

Touhou tends to have that effect on people, especially when you actually play the games.

If your eyes started bleeding from that, then I think your brain would melt if you saw the official Carameldansen video. I'd link to it, but I've potholed enough of my posts.
