Stretching your ears? Attractive or not?

Personally I don't find it attractive, which has worked in my favour really. Once had a bit of a crush on a classmate - unrequited of course; bumped into him a few years later and he'd stretched his ears out and that little part of me that still fancied the memory of him died a quick death. Was quite a relief.

If I had a partner who wished to do it then I'd live with it although I wouldn't like it. They wouldn't be my ears though, so I'd have little say in the matter. As long as he was happy with it, I'd be happy with it.

However, I don't think it would keep me from hiring a person if I was in a position to do so. Someone's looks has nothing to do with whether or not they're competent.

Since you asked, no I don't find it attractive at all. But it's your ears, so do what you want to them.

That's the problem with "in the future" though, in 20 years the pendulum could swing the other way it might hinder your career/job prospects.

Don't like'em personally but that's me.

I'm one of those people who has to subdue the urge to put a padlock in that stupid thing. Sorry, I just can't stand it.

Wait, WHAT?! That's a thing now?! Can someone explain this to me, because I can't fathom why anyone in their right mind would do such a thing. I can understand sex change operations and the like, but why go to such an extreme as mutilating your junk for fashion?! It's not like you're going to be able to show it off to the public (at least I hope not), and I doubt they'd be impressed if you did.
Oh god I google-imaged it. Ugh. The whole concept just makes me squeamish.

Personally I don't find ear-stretching appealing but then I don't find any piercing appealing either, although I ear-stretching is more of an obvious and unusual change. But people have different tastes so if you're cool with it and the permanent effects of it, then it doesn't really matter.

Honestly what you perceive as attractive is for you to judge, although personally anything larger than the very start (which I presume 00 means) I think looks rather awful.

Just to note in terms of life choices, employers do not like it. And I mean employers when you're 24 and joining an actual business (i'm making the possibly unfair presumption that you're in the 17-21 age bracket). To ensure no damage to possible employment its best to avoid visible body modification, so tattoos on hands/above neckline, intrusive piercing like eyebrows and large ear bars and earlobe stretching. Anything beyond the 'entry level' amount of stretching is much more visible than say regular ear rings. Employers won't want customers seeing you like that if they visit the office or you go out to location for any reason.

I work in IT and part of that is implementation, things are pretty relaxed but generally you look "presentable". If im on location then I make sure i've shaved (I have a small beard, make sure it's neat). I don't have any tattoos or piercings but making sure things like that don't show would be routine. It's just about professionalism.

I've had my left lobe stretched for the last 4 years and I quite like it. I went up to a 20mm gauge hole but took it out for almost a year when I was job hunting only to put it back in when I was unsuccessful. Currently at a 12mm gauge and I'm so used to it now that I don't even realise I have it (until it starts to smell, you need to make sure you clean the hole regularly)

Only thing that I really regret about it is that I went past the point of no return, if I take out my tunnel then the hole won't completely shrink up and the remaining hole has been likened to a cats anus...

Eventually I think I'll get it surgically sewn up as it's not currently favoured by many employers. At the moment it doesn't really matter much as I'm a student. Who knows, by the time I go out looking for a proper job the whole public opinion on stretched ears may have changed...

I find it very unpleasant to look at. It might as well be a disfigurement. My subconscious just has that same automatic reaction of 'something is wrong here' that one might get upon seeing someone with a badly burnt face, to a varying extent depending on how extreme the stretching is.

I'm also not really a fan of piercings or tattoos. I don't see the appeal.

It looks horrible.

Just fucking awful, and kinda gross.

Edit: It also looks to me like a person is wearing a sign that says: "I make bad decisions, and probably shouldn't be trusted with a lot of money or responsibilities."

That is just the impression I get when I see anyone who who would go out of their way, and spend money, to make himself look worse.

Yikes. I'm sorry, but I don't find it attractive at all. In fact, it can even make an otherwise attractive person look really bad. It also looks very juvenile, which isn't really a look I prefer when it comes to guys.

I used to love going to Freebird's Burritos, and I swear stretched earlobes was part of the work uniform there.

Maybe he was tired of having to choose whether he wanted to "dress" to the right or to the left, so he chose both.

But yeah, I have to go with the majority of this thread and say that ear stretching is not attractive to me in the least. Now if it's really small gauges I guess I could stomach it if I really liked everything else about the person, but any of the larger ones just look awful to me.

But i also don't like Tattoos, Branding, Piercings and makeup on people - so i am not the targeted group i guess.

It's mostly sexual though - No problem with all of the above on friends, coworkers and such. But all of these are pretty much a "Boner-killer" (sorry for that) for me.

But what i learned when you do something is: Don't care too much of what other people's opinion is on something you are doing (In Moderation... if all your friends are screaming: NONONONO, please don't do THAT, we beg you... they might be unto something)

Care about how YOU feel with it (Factor in how it feels for you when other people react to it.)
pretty much hit the nail on the head for what I was going to say.

If that's what you like OP, then by all means, live to your hearts content, I have a few friends who have them and it's never bugged me once. That being said, it is a huge "boner killer" (basically if I see them on a chick, she transforms into a big fat trucker with dip in his lip.) and I wouldn't date anyone with them.

I'm not someone who always finds piercings and tattoos unattractive. But I've always found ear stretching unpleasant and a turnoff.

Yeah. Whether or not it's explicitly stated, some industries are still far more conservative than others.

Many people still aren't comfortable with their doctor coming in wearing anything other than a shirt and tie.

And after a certain point, stretched ears are not one of those things that's easily concealed.

The only kind of ear stretching I like is the one done in the mini BD special of Spice and Wolf where Horo stretches her wolf-ears by holding them with her fingers back and forth as part of the regular stretching exercise regiment of her wolf-girl village.

Don't find it attractive in the slightest. I hate to say "deal-breaker", but you'd have to be really, really attractive for me to be able to overlook giant stretched earlobes.

And even if "most employers" don't mind it, a lot of them do, so it may seriously affect job prospects, especially in jobs that involve lots of customer interaction.

It's your body, so you can do whatever you want with it, but that's my opinion.

Never saw the appeal of tattoos or piercings or anything really, I think they usually just look ridiculous. Ear stretching moreso than the rest. But whatever floats your boat, OP, I'm not going to tell you what to do.

I think it looks gross, and am pretty repulsed by it. Honestly, I think it makes people look like an idiot to do that to themselves. Not sure what you consider professional, but at least here, that would be considered unprofessional and definitely would hinder employment prospects. I am sure different regions have different things they find acceptable, but here people pretty much point and laugh at someone who does that to themselves.
