I usually disagree with these "gaming links with ____________" studies, but I gotta say, this one may be true.

What I'd really be interested in seeing is if the children have short attention spans due to video games, or (and here's an interesting thought) children with shorter attention spans are more attracted to video games. A child with a shorter attention span might not get nabbed with the everyday mundane of school, but a video game with bright colors, effects, action, and an interactive environment would certainly fulfill those needs.

I got to the last page of this thread to post a comment, but I forgot what I was gonna say.

And what the article was about...

What day is it again?

Though, I can't argue with t.v's inability to hold a thought for moer than 5 minutes. Especially anime.

until i see that games cause poor attention spans, not that kids with poor attention spans are drawn to games, i dont care.
Yes, i do have a lower then normal attention span, yes i do/did very well in 90% of my schooling, (fed up middle school, but i have a 3.75 in college), and no, i dont take meds to help, they helped me in middle/high school, but i picked a good college and degree so i actually enjoy class, meaning i dont need meds.
Im going into computer engineering, history and english were the classes I fed up in middle school, math and science were the classes I liked, tested out of college Calc 1, im an engineer and i enjoy it, as long as im on, building, cleaning, testing, or fixing a computer i couldnt be happier.

I was resonantly at a family BBQ and my brother and I paid fare more attention to conversations than my cousins that are only 1 year younger then me and they spend all day playing sports (they were wrestling each other when not told to listen). I play video games about 3-4 hours a day that is because I live far away from my friends and they also play on xbox live. How to they test if the kid pays attention and what to they compare it to. do they talk to them about football because I think they won't listen to that. do they talk about news because I think most won't listen to that. what is the age of the kids that they tested it on because 3-5 year olds in case you don't know have short attention spans either way. no-one is doing a test to check if sports link to short attention spans to something other then sports.

to they check a kids attention span before and after playing video games because it could be helping them.
(food for thought)

I also play video games more then most people and my scores are normally 75% or above which in most cases is a high B or an A

Ahahaahah.. this thread is hilarious.

A thread about gamers being more likely to have ADHD is filled with people who couldn't muster their attention long enough to read the whole half-page article where the researcher explicitly says that it's just a correlation and does not imply causation, and go on to post exactly that.
I know that is quite funny
but most of my friend who play video games pay attention in class much longer then those playing sports all the time and no one bother doing the same experiment on football because no parent minds there kid playing football (and they shouldn't mind it is good for them) but this is another thing that will get on something like fox news then gullible people will but it on the internet before listening to the full news report and then new parents that are over protective read it and never allow there kids to play video games.

I don't know if you are agreeing but I'm going to say this there is more then a billion children in this world they have made a study from around 1,200 of them.

Two hour limit?

Hoo-boy. I'd have never survived if I had that kind of limit on my gaming. >>

I still wouldn't. How would you get anything done!? Especially in something like Oblivion or Fallout. O_O;

Okay I don't really agree with it and I'm going to keep gaming, I was just glad because it looked like they were actually trying to put effort into this study instead of pulling shit out of their arse.

Siiiigh... when are they going to stop blaming video games from all the worlds problems? We had nothing to do with WWII, we didn't start the storming of the Bastille, and we are not responsible for the actions of Serial Killers.

I blame global warming for all that stuff. :)

What's this? Study about video games affecting kids that makes sense?

I'm crying tears of partial joy. Most of the tears are from Toy Story 3.

Total nonsense. I would love to see a kid with low attention span play a video game. Thus how can kid gamers who have to have a long intense attention span needed to play games, have a short attention span doing everything else???

Plz.
