well, your obviuosly a gamer if you visit escapist. there is the ubisoft sponsored group of female gamers (dont remmeber the name atm). it its quite active and i see their shows from time to time (im a male, but i dont judge peopel by gender so they can be aliens as far as i know as lnog as the show is good) and they are pretty decent gamers that dont try to misrepresent women as far as i can see.

yeah I know...its not just gaming (in fact gaming can even be better at this in some cases) its just popular media as a whole

yeah i think gaming is one that is best at it, possibly becuase gaming started at the time when the gap between male and female was much smaller in social structure and so it didnt need to adjust that much.

Have you ever played Sid Meier's Pirates? It's not exactly what you described, but it's a backwards-compatible XBox 1 release, and it's pretty fun.

I do have it, both on xbox live and more recently, I got it on PSP so I could have it on the move.

The part it's really missing for me is being able to directly control/customise my character, y'know? It's a very good game, but it still lacks the complete pirate experience. It's so frustrating that a game like that hasn't really been made.

They might have been created by someone unintentionally and might actually be really clever, in which case it'd be pretty douchy to say it's shit just because other people like to spread it.

Additionally, memes aren't just pictures and phrases spread online; but any idea that's spread socially by popularity. For instance, the word 'bandwagon', or rather its use outside of referring to an actual bandwagon, is a meme. Hell, religion is a meme.

I'm sick with how nationalism has greatly increased in my country. I'm sick of the braindead morons that have never once in their miserable lives opened a bloody history book going around voting for a fascist party. As a result, rascism and bigotry has been elevated as righteous behaviour, religious fundamentalism, when once non-existant, now has the power to stop theatres from playing plays deemed "heretical", and people are ok with the head of the party doing the nazi salute live on television. They actually cheer for him! Meanwhile immigrants are beat up and people walk away from it scot free because fascist congressmen say so. People are singing the national anthem while doing the nazi salute and no one says anything about it, and, worst of all, now the party wants to rewrite history Stalin style and say that the Junta never tortured people and DEFINATELY DID NOT have a tank break down the gates of a university, killing university students who only ever wanted freedom of expression.

I'm just so fed up with the state of it all. I would have already left if I had a place to go. All I can hope of is getting a scholarship abroad and hoping I avoid the worst of it.

yea, I wish i knew just how important experience was when i was in college. I would have pushed for internships a hell of a lot more.

To all of you college students out there, internships/experience is more important than the piece of paper you graduate with unless you are at the top of your class.

And i do suck at selling myself. I tend to be blunt and honest which automatically disqualifies me from even min wage jobs. Also I HATE playing "the game" on interviews. I hate it, i hate it, i hate it. It actually makes me sick playing it. When they ask me for flaws, I actually give them my flaws and not a "my only flaw is that im too loyal and too awesome for my own good" bullcrap answer. I hate bullsh@#ing, even though it is probably one of the most valuable skills you can ever develop.

Hell, im a chemical engineering working as an electric engineer making 20k a year with no benefits and I'm happy that i even have a job.

OT: I'm fed up with people bitching about college/university (not sure which word is preferred outside the US). Nobody is forcing you to be there, and all your whining isn't helping. Again, it's not perfect, but college is what you make it.

This, I fucking love uni, but only because I put so much effort into socialising in addition to working.
OT: people who act high and mighty. You are not a superior being for being born into the right circle, or for having certain friends, or because of how you look down on others. Stop it.

Also, people who flash their cash. As someone who is pretty well off, I prefer to not rub it into my friends faces that I have money. They're into their overdrafts and know it. Other people however, take the piss out of others for being less well off than them.
