Depends what your standards are for realism.....like physics.....or how it handles........or in an other sense......trolls and goblins making bannana nut muffin marines that slay tellie tubbies..........idc abt the second option but if the game handles like crap....and its "new" i wont have a large paitence for it

Two examples:
I have a friend who did not like COD4 because it wasn't realistic enough.

I have another friend that only plays video games for the simulation.

I hate when people do that. Just cause a game doesn't have "gritty realism" or "life like graphics", they won't touch it. As long as the games fun why does it matter?

Yeah, a much better approach is to buy every single game ever made, and judge for ourselves.

Guess I'll listen to reviews I trust and DECIDE WHICH GAMES TO INVEST TIME AND MONEY INTO BASED ON THEM

My brother hates Morrowind because 'Oblivion looks better and it has a better game world'.
The second point is raw bullshit.

Morrowind's a strange game. It ages horribly like goldeneye, and you can only really have fun with it if you can be trusted with a complete cheat toolset and are willing to play by rules you have to set yourself. Oblivion has this to some extent, but not nearly as obviously.

I don't totally agree with that, I think in some cases realism is good, and in some cases it's bad.

When you know a game isn't trying to be realistic it's fine, but when you get a game like Modern Warfare 2, where you can tell it wants to be realistic, but then every so often it pulls some total bullshit, it can be a bit annoying.

Now what you say is true, it makes life easier to see someone elses experiences, and opinions and determine whether you'll be getting your moneys worth, but your experience and his will not always be the same. example; I have a friend who does have enough time and money to buy essentially every game including so-called shitty ones, but when I ask him what he thinks of them the reply is always the same: "it gives me orgasms" or some variation.
