But the object is not flying... thus it's an object that LOOKS like an object that many describe as an object which flies, but cannot be identified.

The article never once mentions aliens. The title is fine.

Edit:

They should totally make a blockbuster film about it, where a group of cocky Marines go to investigate and are trapped in a titanic yet boring battle with aggressors of unknown origins... I'm calling Hollywood now, this is foolproof
That should be the title of the movie. Foolproof!

I'm guessing it's something Russian. The Russian's have all the cool stuff.

Once they approach this thing I expect it to sound a little something like this....

After which the real fun will begin.

what you mean like
a group of cocky Marines go to investigate and are trapped in a titanic yet boring battle with aggressors of unknown origins Staring Taylor Kitsch as "The Highly Rated yet Rebelious Marine who has a problem with Discipline and Authority" and Music Megastar Dolly Parton as "The Token Music Star to try to get people who only own a radio to pay to watch this film"

Right Draconalis, I think we're set, now all we need is someone with a really deep voice to do that barotone voice over for our awesome Movie trailer
"The Story of a Man[footnote]dramatic pause[/b].... on a mission"

I think we got this licked.

Most likely a hoax, but just in case... my official statement on the matter is that I, for one, welcome our new alien overlords

The process of discovering what this thing actually is has been a slow one, due to both weather issues and, more importantly, a lack of funding. Another dive is scheduled "in the coming weeks," however, which may shed more light on its true nature.

I don't know why everyone's so sceptic that undersea treasure hunters have found something that fits the loose definition of "Treasure" under a sea.

I mean, seriously, who else do you think would find it? A greengrocer?

Shame on you, this situation is clearly more befitting of a XCOM:TFTD reference! =p

This is actually a really good way to advertise SW The Old Republic( or something, i mean really, the Falcon ins't even in that game).

1)Bribe some dude with a sonar and photoshop your message in the picture and say aliens want you to buy their product
2)Mass hysteria
3)?????
4)Profit!

Andy Chalk, it's not a UFO. It's never been seen flying. That term is often misused, and I think part of the reason is journalists like you, who help to popularize the incorrect usage. Knock it off.

Their descriptions make it sound like an iron meteorite, except for the radio disturbance. Considering the source, it may all be bullshit though. Come on guys, this is the 21st fucking century. Get a decently detailed photo or even sketch of the thing or shut the hell up.

Quick! Someone call X-com! Seems that they missed one derilict ufo from TFTD!

EDITH says:

Also if that thing emitted EMP wouldnt that mean that all electronics around it would get fried... isntead of simply turned off and then going back online once your far enough away?

Someone clearly hasnt done their homework here.

Yes! It definitely is. The whole "a long time ago" thing now makes total sense - the eventual fate of the Millenium Falcon is to crash land on Earth for us to find eons later!

Honestly if this does turn out to be some kind of UFO thing I'd be incredibly psyched. I mean, who wouldn't be? I'm really hoping that it does, although all logic dictates that it won't be and that it's just some random sediment and they're playing it up to get more funding.

Still, one can dream, no?

Better dig it up and get to work on reverse-engineering before its owners show up and see us little monkeys banging on it with coconuts.

You fool, look at the picture. It's the Ebon Hawk!

Not really any point in worrying about this thing. If it is a UFO, we'll find out if it's real enough for anyone to investigate it. If it's not, well, I'm sure Cthulhu's bound to take it on his next cleaning sweep of the deep.
