Guys, thats clearly the Millenium Falcon
Yes! It definitely is. The whole "a long time ago" thing now makes total sense - the eventual fate of the Millenium Falcon is to crash land on Earth for us to find eons later!
That is actually the basis for a short star wars comic that i remember reading in a Star Wars collection a while ago. Basically, the MF makes a hyperspace jump w/out coordinates and it crash lands on earth. Chewbacca is the only one who survives and basically becomes the bass for the Sasquatch mythology.

Once they approach this thing I expect it to sound a little something like this....

After which the real fun will begin.
You mean the dubstep inception horn?

I honestly have no idea what would scare me more, a Reaper invasion or a giant dubstep party........I can deal with the Reapers easily, but dubstep?

They should totally make a blockbuster film about it, where a group of cocky Marines go to investigate and are trapped in a titanic yet boring battle with aggressors of unknown origins... I'm calling Hollywood now, this is foolproof
That should be the title of the movie. Foolproof!
what you mean like
a group of cocky Marines go to investigate and are trapped in a titanic yet boring battle with aggressors of unknown origins Staring Taylor Kitsch as "The Highly Rated yet Rebelious Marine who has a problem with Discipline and Authority" and Music Megastar Dolly Parton as "The Token Music Star to try to get people who only own a radio to pay to watch this film"

Right Draconalis, I think we're set, now all we need is someone with a really deep voice to do that barotone voice over for our awesome Movie trailer
"The Story of a Man[footnote]dramatic pause[/b].... on a mission"

I think we got this licked.
I dunno... that sounds a little too formulaic... We need to twist things up a bit... Maybe Samuel L Jackson as the aliens... All of them. And they communicate with each other via screaming. And I feel it needs a quick and meaningless big star cameo. What's Bruce Willis doing right now?

Bruce Willis doesn't have the pulling power of Dolly Parton though, search your heart, you know it to be true.

I think we're going on a tangent here, we need to be real about this, tell me Draco, have you got Admiral Ackbar's number? or maybe his agent? just tell him its not a trap... he'll know anyway but that would be a good ice breaker

If he hasn't changed his number over the years, I should be good, but if not, I'll have to do a little digging in my rolodex. Maybe I'll get lucky and find someone else we can jam in there flesh the story out with.

Oh! I've got it! The sunken alien ships! It was the Titanic all along! Get James Cameron on the details right away.

I know this isn't really going to affect anything in this article, and it's backed by another source anyway, but for the love of everyone's sanity, can we PLEASE stop citing the Daily Mail as a source.

Tourist trips: Diver Peter Lindberg is hoping to take wealthy tourists down in this submarine to see the object
Let me guess, the submarine stops working if it gets too close. So people cannot go closer to investigate the object.

That's why they're planning tourist trips before they get down to some proper research, right?

Smells rather fishy to me.
I'm not sure if everything in the story is correct. The story as reported to Fox News by Lindberg doesn't include all the details that other reports are so their maybe some more spectacular things inserted into other retelling.

However, if we assume it's true it shouldn't be too hard to get something right on top of it without dealing with the interference. We have Radiation Hardened Robots at the Idaho National Laboratory that were sent to Japan for that little accident not too long ago. Whatever energy this thing could be emitting cant be worse than the inside of a nuclear reactor.

I remember seeing the picture a while back and instantly dismissing it, but now it's getting wierd. I'm no scientist, so does anyone know of any natural elements that could cause such interference?

Okay, I don't care about the contents of this article because the sub-head pisses me off.

"UFO-like object." Really? Don't you know what UFO stands for? Unidentified Flying Object.

Time for some insight into the English language. One, that choice of words is redundant and two, *picks up a megaphone* UFO does not mean an alien space ship. UFO by itself literally means a flying object that hasn't been identified.

It could be a space ship. It could be a weather balloon. It could be a vulture having a scandalous affair with an otter. When a flying object is unidentified, that means there are possibilities. None of which have to center on extra-terrestrials.

taking into account that NO ONE has seen this thing actually FLYING!!!!
So it´s just a Unidentified Object.

You've striked through your "jam in there" comment like its a bad thing having the entire cast as big flashy well known actors, the more big name actors we get the more likely we are to get huge ratings, movie plots aren't about fleshing out the stories, its about whose name is on the posters

Case in point, Time Burton's Mars Attacks, amiright?
A film so good no one ever discusses it, because its perfect, nothing to discuss, Pierce Brosnan is in for goodness sake!, his take of being a head without a body has yet to be surpassed ... sometimes I think he's a method actor

I hope this isn't a hoax by Ocean X in order to secure more funding, color me interested yet somewhat skeptical.

I'm assuming the boat they were on uses hydraulic actuators instead of electronic ones because you know, EMP and all.
Made me giggle because of your avatar. :)

Anyways, I think it's fake. A publicity stunt to secure more funding. As someone on the facebook comments said, there is already a video of them several inches away from that thing and it was taken with an electronic camera. So why didn't it interfere at that time?

Well, I just came back from seeing Prometheus, so it is probably an Engineer Spaceship.

INB4 spoiler: they talk about Engineers in the trailers.

Well...what powers a hydrualic actuator? be it a pump of some kind? powered by a motor? a motor running on hamsters in a wheel lifting a series of melons to a specific height so they can fall over a fan that causes a dynamo to turn...utilizing free electrons. :)

Plausible explanation...before this, these anomalies have been noted, to a lesser extent, as rich mineral deposits which have been magnetized by some means. Circle/Dome shape could mean it was an ultra-mafic body which rose as a dome or diaper through thinner crust. Ages and ages ago. Exposure could be the result of a recent Turbidite occurring. Could possibly have a lot of decay around it causing heat and a slight electronic charge to occur.

Other possibility could be just the earths magnetic field being retarded. This has definitely happened before, although not this far south.

Although I am also calling hoax on this!

Man... Mar's attacks WAS an amazing movie... We should be more like that! Get Nathan Fillion on the phone! And that guy that plays House. I'm sure people will go to the movies to see their favorite TV stars on the big screen!

*shakes walking stick*
Back in my day heavy machinery was powered by hydraulics, you'd push a lever which would give the desired amount of leverage to a hydraulics system which would activate or power whatever needed to be powered, turned, rotated or whatever word that needs to be used in this instance.

The Russian Migs are built in this way (so is the Hind I believe), I'm assuming so are boats. I take it the boat in said article was running constantly, because starter motors are electronic like everywhere now days.

You guys know what that means, right?

It means it's a movie. We're all characters in a disaster movie. We are all fictitious constructs.

Honestly, I suspected as much when Obama won.
