I'm still waiting for someone to make an article calling the 3DS the new Virtual Boy. What? I think it would be kind of funny.
The inevitable Professor Laytons, Ace Attorneys, and, more over, games in that style will put the 3DS above the NGP in my book.Silent Biohazard Solid said:Yes, I'm a sheep for wanting to get the most out of the platform I buy. Especially its one key feature.Balobo said:But why can't you just get them with the 3DS? Because they put 3D in and you can't stand using the system without it? Haha, you're a sheep.
No, the thing is, without the 3D, I don't even see what the appeal in the 3DS is. I mean, okay, I guess if you're a hardcore Mario, Zelda and Metroid fan, you know your fill of first party favorites will be coming to the 3DS eventually. But until they do, there's still no point in getting one. Unless, you want to enjoy some 3D graphics.
I mean, I'm not even defending the 3D here. I think that 3D is a gimmick, and frankly, I don't want the "future of gaming" to be in 3D. But that's why I'm not gonna bother getting a 3DS. Because beyond its key novelty, the 3D, I don't see what it has to offer. I mean, okay, "better this, better that," but without killer apps, what's the point?
Also, my blood pressure raises when I get anxious or nervous, like when I'm being forced to do something or when somebody is treating me like a guinea pig.xitel said:You know, blood pressure and pulse rising is also a result of general stress. It happens to me all the time when I'm playing games. And if I'm playing a game I'm bad at? Or one that is ridiculously hard? My hard starts beating pretty fast, yeah. Fast enough for it to be unhealthy if it were my resting rate. It has nothing to do with the 3D. Not to mention, they tested ONE guy, ONCE. No controls, no nothing. This is tabloid journalism at its finest folks, and shouldn't be respected in even the slightest of fashions.

As constantly stated by those who wanted refunds on the 3DS, what's the point in paying £200+ for a glitzy version of the original DS?Casual Shinji said:Wouldn't this be easily fixed by turing off the 3-D effect on the 3DS?
Playing the Xbox 360 in SD makes it just an Xbox. Playing a PS3 in SD makes it a PS2.Byere said:The main reason for these "tests" done by a newspaper is simply because big gaming companies refused to refund people who had bought a 3DS after it made them ill and they wanted to return it. Places like Game eventually gave in an did the refunds, but at a £20-£50 loss to the purchaser. Not only that, but they refused to refund any games played as they had already been opened.

Also, this is why I still have my original DS. It works perfectly find and all games they've released for the DS system work on it.
No... as a person who has played both on an SD tv, I can safely say they are both STILL an Xbox 360 and PS3 (respectively), just without being able to see every frigging hair on the testicles of the aliens you are trying to shoot!Balobo said:Playing the Xbox 360 in SD makes it just an Xbox. Then please tell, how is the 3DS just a DS Lite when you turn the 3D off?Byere said:No... as a person who has played both on an SD tv, I can safely say they are both STILL an Xbox 360 and PS3 (respectively), just without being able to see every frigging hair on the testicles of the aliens you are trying to shoot!Balobo said:Playing the Xbox 360 in SD makes it just an Xbox. ...or whatever type of games you play...
The pictures (the ones someone posted earlier) are clearly not taking themselves seriously at all.Andy Chalk said:To be fair to The Sun, it's probably not unreasonable to suggest that two hours of banging away on the 3DS will have a physiological impact on most people, especially if done in the passenger seat of a moving car, as Price did for at least part of test. I can't even read in a car for extended periods without feeling a bit woozy. But whatever shred of legitimacy this report may have had, it goes sailing out the window thanks to the ridiculous headline and insane photographs that accompany the article and are obviously meant to put the system in a bad light.
Why The Sun seems so determined to prove that the 3DS is a deadly weapon is a mystery but it is worth noting that the doctor's final sage advice - "Children should not be left to play on it for hours" - pretty much jibes with Nintendo's own recommendation [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108799-Nintendo-Responds-to-3DS-Headache-Complaints] to take frequent breaks, "as with anything that requires focus, from reading to staring at a computer screen." So what's really at issue here?
Manuals go the way of ToS I'm afraid.Ranooth said:And I declare that The Sun is retarded.
Some actual discussion: The 3DS does come with a lot of safety leaflets and even a Health & Safety channel on the menu, if they actually read them they would find that the break period is half hour for every hour.
Does a DS lite have 3D capabilities? NoBalobo said:Then please tell, how is the 3DS just a DS Lite when you turn the 3D off?
So because it has backwards compatibilities, it's exactly like a DS Lite when you turn the 3D off?Byere said:Does a DS lite have 3D capabilities? NoBalobo said:Then please tell, how is the 3DS just a DS Lite when you turn the 3D off?
Does a DS lite play DS games? Yes
Does a 3DS when the 3D feature is switched off play DS games? Yes
That simple enough for you?
