I recently heard a rumor that in my school, there was a pool on the roof where teachers chillax after school. Do you folks have/used to have similar rumors in your school?

We never had a room 10, it went 9 and then 11 in the next building, we used to tell people something awesome was on in room 10.

Every single door had a number on it. Occasionally I would direct people to a fire hose cupboard when they asked me where something was.

Truthfully it seems creepy school legends are not a major phenomena in the US. I've heard it's differant in other countries however (both Europe and Asia).

Sort of surprised me because I'd have thought a lot of stuff would have gotten started due to the "Fear Stret" craze many moons ago.

Your school actually sounds somewhat exciting... I'm jealous 'cause nothing of that sort ever happens at my school.
Plus a pool on the roof? Just goes to show what they're wasting my money on. Not only that, but to verify this rumor, has anyone actually went on the roof to see if there is actually a pool?

Nah, we knew our school better than the principal himself.
At the end of 2007, our school principal left to go to another school and we were told our new school principal would be arriving the first month in to the school semester because she was on long service leave.

Welcoming assembly of 2008
Well, there we are, all sitting around waiting for the new principal to be introduced when the power hungry vice-principal comes up to the podium and tells us that she won't be arriving until term 2 due to a back injury she got on her long service leave.

*sigh

First assembly of Term 2
Nope, she's not coming till semester two.

Semester Two
Okay, so the rumour mill has started up (mostly by yours truly) and we get told that yes she has arrived! (horrah, the twat principal will bugger off) but she will only be there for three half days a week. That's right she'll technically only be there for one and a half days. (Damn I wish I had a job like that.)

I wonder if she's taken off with the School Funded Hawaii Fund yet...

EDIT: Changed the spelling for the IRC. THERE! ARE YOU ALL HAPPY!? <3

Our school was always rumored to have a pool underneath the gym floor that they would retract sometimes. Needless to say, there was no pool, and no way could that gym floor be retracted.

My school is made of Asbestos. Im going to die. This ISNT a rumour. A year after i left, they closed it for three weeks because the roof was leaking asbestos. Now, they are going to knock it down and re-build it. Thanks crappy british government for a school that will LITERALLY kill you.

Oh, yes.

My friends and I even sold "elevator passes" to the super-secret roof pool (one story building with a VERY high ceiling) to Freshmen.

I turned quite a profit. Forty-some dollars. 'Course, the administrative staff didn't look too kindly upon this.

Our school was Lord Cowdray's old summer house (a massive castle/mansion thing) and there were numerous secret passages and old, hidden rooms. Great times.

My school had a rumor about people failing for using this word.

Actually it is a true rumor too.

Nothing besides that though. Our school isn't the brightest bunch, and they would've fallen for it, but 4 students did die from my class alone in one year, so we did assume we had a bit of a bad luck class. Considering it was a country High School, that's a larger number than you'd feel confirtable with.

It used to be a boarding school, but now half of it has been left to ruin. My friend and I found a Betamax player in an an abandoned room. Along with some hypos. Not a secret per-se, but still..

My intermediate school (im 3rd form now) had a wood step next to the foreign languages block that apparently cursed girls to have their first period the following evening, and was hence named the 'period step', and everyone avoided it. I never believed it, but stood on it once and a chill went up my spine. Being a guy, I didn't get a period (whew!). People used to have arguments over which one was the actual step when people got confused.
