Amy smiled at the new name that Ryan dubbed upon the stranger. At least it's more original than Bob, she though silently as Ryan performed his little trick once more for their new acquaintance. Though she had seen this trick once before, it entranced her as much as it had the first time- as did Shifty's display. Both of them, so amazing, so talented... and in control.
When Ryan finished his display, Amy looked to Shifty. "You've probably seen what I can do- that's what made you follow us, wasn't it?" She paused, then looked out the window, from which rays of sunlight warmed her face. "Sometimes I feel... like the entire sun is in my body, burning me from the inside out, leaving nothing but pain, and fear." She blinked, then smiled sadly. "My dad used to say I should move to Alaska, under the clouds, to get as far away from the sun as I can. So I can't recharge, and explode." It seems like he was right.
"Listen, Shifty. If you came to us for help... I'm really not sure I can help you. But I think we all might know of someone who can."
She looked to the television, which was still quietly talking away. It showed the two destroyed buildings, the blasted bin, and finally, Supergirl.
