Ryan watched in silent admiration as Amy, even if only to a small degree, began to master her power. Her joy was overwhelmingly evident, and although he had only known her for a small time, he couldn't help but share her feel of accomplishment and satisfaction. This was a major stepping stone for her.
It also began to quell his suspicions about their new acquaintance. Although it was hard to determine his emotions, it appeared that Shifty genuinely wanted to help her, and the fact that he had succeeded in doing so, with such remarkable, and helpful, results began to cast him in a different light for Ryan. He could almost trust him now. Almost. He wanted to, but there was still that lingering uneasiness, that he knew would only be cured with time.
"I... Thank you, so much!" Amy said as she wiped a tear from her eye. "If I had known so long ago... Thank you, Shifty."
Ryan smiled, then stood and offered a hand to Shifty, not knowing whether or not the shapeshifter would recognize the gesture, but going with it anyway. "Thanks man. And... sorry about earlier. Looks like your not that bad after all.
