Xyphon said:I've had 2 surgeries done on my right hand for 2 boxer fractures. The first time I broke my little finger metacarpal, I had to have pins put in. The second time I had to have a titanium plate screwed on the bone. I was put under both times, and both times I woke up feeling like I want to throw up. The first time I managed to kick the feeling to the curb, but the second time I did throw up.
If you're being put under, try not to eat or drink anything prior to surgery.
Edit: Edit: I also had a tonsillectomy, but I don't remember a single detail about it. I don't even remembering having it done.
Just a little pro tip: If you're put under and wake up to find a hot nurse standing next to you, for the love of all that is decent LOOK AWAY! Because the anesthetic makes you so loopy after waking up, you'll just embarrass yourself laying there with a derp face and a boner. >_>"
Wow, another human being on the planet who had that? My doctor kept telling me it was common but I didn't believe him.Macgyvercas said:The only surgeries I've had were to remove my wisdom teeth and to remove a pilonidal cyst (I highly recommend NOT looking that up, BTW). I walked out of them the same day. No one keeps me in a hospital overnight.
On second thoughts I didn't need to know...superbatranger said:You asked for it.Fluffles said:I need to know.superbatranger said:I've had one surgery. No, I won't say what the surgery was for. When I was 9 or so, I started peeing blood. So my mom took me to the hospital, and they scheduled a surgery. They put me under, and they stuck a tiny camera down my penis. Turns out there was a tiny cut in my urethra, so every time I took a leak, the urine would hit the cut, forcing blood out. They fixed the cut and I went home the next day. For about 2 weeks after, it burned like hell when I peed.
I don't know the facts around your situations but that doesn't sound normal. I was on an ENT rotation around a month ago and I didn't see any wisdom teeth taken out that weren't under general anesthetic, plus they take 15 minutes at the most to do usually.ajofflight said:Maybe it is... I don't know, but I remember most, if not all of the surgery pretty clearly. I... won't go into details, for risk of making OP unnecessarily nervous. I live in Canada though, maybe that's different.
Really? Interesting.. This does seem likely, in my case. Either way it happened, I can remember it, and I do remember the little saw they used, they had to cut out a part of my jaw so they could get the lower ones out, they were impacted or something.WolfThomas said:I don't know the facts around your situations but that doesn't sound normal. There is a phenomenon called "confabulation", basically false memories. Nearly everyone whose ever said they were awake in an operation has been confabulating, where their brain makes up often vividly real memories from little bits of information they may have observed from TV or film. They did test where they played audio-books to thousands of unconcious patients and not a single one recalled any of it.
I told you haha. There are some things you just don't bring up in conversation.Fluffles said:On second thoughts I didn't need to know...superbatranger said:You asked for it.Fluffles said:I need to know.superbatranger said:I've had one surgery. ahaha, well I'll probably have to have a hydrocelectomy later this year... which is a bit of a *****.
