Swine Flu Isn't a big deal.

1. We gots Vaccine
2. 150 mexicans dead how many infected 2,000,000 - 5,000,000 Or somthing?
Let me correct you.

1. There is no vaccine for this strain
2. Around 3,800 infected worldwide
News says (not FOX) says we have vaccins for 1/4 -1/2 of the county (England)

And Everyone is worried about a 3,800 infected? Thats Insane, And not to mention its in Mexico
and people have given points for why thats a factor so as it stands...

150/3,800 = 0.04 (rounded up) Soo assuming your figures are correct (dont forget this is in Mexico you fear-mongers. 4/100 infected will die, assuming it become like the F'ing Plague

11,000,000/4 = 2,750,000 deaths. Now does that not seem nigh impossible?

(Are you sure its 3,800 that seems really low for people to be so botherd about. Any sources?)
No. Our government has anti-viral drugs enough for half of the population. Anti-viral drugs are not vaccine. Still, the huge stockpile of anti-virals is why I'm happy I'm in the UK.

I think heat makes the Swine Flu worse because Mexico has the only reported deaths although it has spread to australia and new zealand so, fucks up my theory.

This is exactly like the time we all died of SARS - I remember it well because it was just after I got better from the mad cow epidemic that wasn't.

If this kicks off I have to work in a hospital and if I'm not crapping it I don't see why anyone else should be. I'm not building a bunker yet and I wish the armchair epidemiologists would go back to their living rooms and get off of the BBC.

The cure is Diet Food. Swine Flu is particularly devstating mid-battle in a Jrpg, I advise those who have it not to enter into any boss batles while inflicted with this status.

I have no idea. But i figure its pretty low since its not been reported. If it actually killed someone there would be huge newsflashes how humanity is doomed to extinction and stuff..
total casualtys between 5-20 right now I think

Ah my mistake though I have heard the vaccine tossed around on the news. Either way this is not as bad as the media makes it out to be.

Highly Likely - Plus it is a problem that can be solved with a vaccine - i'm sure at the moment they are developing enough vaccine to cover everyone that will catch it

Mexcians are dying as their health care is lacking to say the least, epescially in the country.
US westerner have better healthcare and immune systems, hence only the vunerable have died outside mexico.
I don't think anyone has died outside of Mexico yet.
I think as long as the necessary precautions are taken, it will blow over.
A child in America has.

Swine flu has already progressed much further than bird flu, it is spreading rapidly and it is no question of opinion over it- it has definately became a problem. Try reading the news insteas of just the headlines.
Well that's the problem right there... the news. The media is blowing this story completely out of proportion, and publicizing it as if it's the beginning of the apocalypse. More people die of REGULAR influenza each year, and you don't see anyone making a huge deal about that.
The problem here is that "Swine Flu" is something new, something we have never seen before, so most people assume that we should be scared of it.

Really, the only thing to worry about here are the few days you may to spend in bed, drinking chicken noodle soup, and recovering if you do happen to catch "Swine Flu".

Which will take six months to perfect and produce.

the death rate in mexico is acctually about 150 deaths so far
With only 7 laboratory confirmed to be from the actual virus. The rest are most likely from complications such as pneumonia.

Wow! That swine flu over our heads!

In all seriousness, I agree with you. Thousands of people die from the flu or illnesses caused by the flu every year. What makes this so special?

The probability of swine flu developing into a mass epidemic is unlikely, but should it become resistant, the potential for damage is high indeed.

And they say it's in the USA... it is probably just illegal immigrants or some stupid crap like that.

I think I heard somewhere, that a twenty-three month old baby died of it in the U.S.
Although, that was just one of my friends who told me that, so don't take it as fact.

And I agree, Mexico has worse health care.
Sure, the State's health care isn't great. But it's good enough to make this not a big deal.

Do any of you know about the Spanish Influensa epidemic?

It killed a measly 50 million people, and made a lot more sick.
Thats easily more than most wars, and maybe even more than WW2.

The swine flu has reportedly spread almost globally already, with a foothold on every continent. It will get worse, more people will be traveling when infected.

My only question is, what is its kill rate?
8 confirmed deaths. All Mexican citizens, all Children, Elderly or Unhealthy Adults.

Your correct but also wrong, a Baby did die on American Soil. But it was neither:

A) An American born Citizen
B) American
C) Living in America
D) Healthy.

The Childs parents moved to Texas to get it treated in supposedly "better" hospital where it died.
