I believe I got this because I prefer reading classic literature to light entertainment, and because I checked the story options. I don't know what all the other profiles are you get from this quiz, but the ones in this thread don't seem half as mean or snooty as The Pretentionist. Quiz-maker, are you serious? Liking good story-telling is pretentious? So you're assuming that people say they like good stories only fake their enjoyment of stories (and art, I assume, based on the flavour text)? Everyone in the world loves a good story! Art and entertainment go hand in hand.
Totally agreed. Got the same one.

BTW, I don't "Only play indy or artsy games". I play almost every kind of videogame. I spend a lot of time having instant fun with Fighting Games, Rhytm Games, Online Shooters etc. But yes, I always prefer an immersive game over a game I play "for fun". Does that make me pretentious? =(

The grouper...Makes sense, i dont usually play a game if i dont have a friend to play it with, thats where all the fun is at.

I got the Explorer. But that doesn't seem like me because I'm always much more involved with the story rather than running around and exploring.

The Pretentionist, apparently. I had no idea I was so picky... *hangs head in shame*

Fun quiz though.

First go:
[br] The Explorer [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/quizzes/result/83.47-The+Explorer]

Second go:
[br] The Tactician [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/quizzes/result/83.53-The+Tactician]

So there.

Describes me somewhat well, although lacking a bit...

I think I'm a little bit of a Dead-Eye [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/quizzes/result/83.51-The+Dead-Eye] too.

Apparently, I'm an explorer. That's actually quite fitting, when you think about the fact that I bought Morrowind many, many years ago and I still haven't finished the main quest. Same thing goes for Oblivion. When I play those games, I just do whatever comes to mind.

this explains why i never finish oblivion
Same here, I have yet to finish... and I blame exploration for this. So much area to look at so little time to explore o_O

Grouper? There were a lot of questions that could go two ways. I do enjoy multiplayer when I can get my hands on Live, but I'm kinda steamrolling through my single player Lunatic difficulty games at the moment (and Mass Effect). I've only ever played CoD4 and SFIV online, and wasn't particularly good at it.

Question 1: I only played one of these games and I didn't like it, how do I proceed? :p

Eventually went with GTA IV because it was the only one of them that seemed enjoyable.

The Jack of All Games. Not like I never finished a game in my life, but yeah, that's pretty much it... Except, most of the times when I get bored (sometimes not even) halfway through a game, I just go back to playing some sport games with friends or on the net, instead of starting a new one... But yeah, I don't remember a last time a game had me stick around long enough to finish the "story mode" or "campaign" or whatever...

Good lord! where did I turn wrong? Have I really sunk this low? As if the Pokemon test debacle wasn't enough.

Finally, someone else. Was worried I was alone in my apparent pretentiousness...

Though I guess its accurate.

As for the quiz...ugh. I hate when you feel like you have to settle for a poll option. The sims question for example. How about a No, but Ive heard about it, but would try it. I think the closest was the one that made you be like Sims? OMG YEAH SURE! :D
Meh.

The questions are put in random spots, so my question 1 will be different from your question 1 (Its still all the same 20 questions, just not all in the same spot)
so... what is your question 1?

Got the Tactician and that seems fair enough but I will have you know that my beard is totally different to the one in the picture and I wear a different uniform when gaming. Your "personality test" doesn't looks so accurate now, hmm?

Would like to see how it worked it out as many of these types of online quiz things just harvest a lot of data but only use one or two for the result.

Pretentious is a loaded word but it's hard to say that lot of people who keep banging on this game narrative and art game drum are down to earth and know when to just kick back and have fun.

I'm a grouper... apparently... Don't agree at all because I primarily play JRPGs and the single player portions of FPSs. I found the questions to be quite biased towards Left4Dead (or was that just me?). I do own both Left4Deads and choose to play with others online (if friends aren't around) only because the AI annoys the hell out of me when they try to heal me when my health is below 50% or something.

...and the UI answer -> 'Put up with it and hope it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the game'. I laughed as this is such a quintessential British outlook on life but then thought "Wait, I'm British and chose that... damn I live up to the stereotype..."

I think I fit the explorer better as that in itself is the exact reason why western RPGs annoy me so much because I spend way too much time exploring without actually achieving anything. Or alternatively I *skipped* some of the game when I played Fallout 3 as I was doing some side quests, one of which sent me to Rivet City (at the time I hadn't done ANY of the main quest). My character randomly started asking about his/her dad whilst in Rivet City rather than what I was sent there for and it "completed" about 4-5 quests at once that I was supposed to have done that led me to Rivet City.

Edit: Or the Dead-Eye as I've played FPSs my entire life and love shooting things... a lot.
