I don't like tatoos. Not the actual idea, just the whole stabby needle ink part.
Does it hurt? Badly? o_O I might be getting some tattoos. I planned to get the Lambada, the TF2 symbol, and something else. And it'd be awesome to get a full-hand tattoo of the L4D symbol xD
...I can't tell if you are kidding or not.
Yes, a pulsating needle that injects permanent ink into your body hurts. ALOT.

Wow...my dad said it doesn't... he said it only hurts if it's on like, directly bone [I.e. the knee] or on the back of your leg. I don't know, I still want to get them.
Maybe if you have a high tolerance for pain and get a small one. But for all of the ones you want.. it'll hurt.

My first tattoo was kind of a spur of the moment decision. I was with a buddy of mine while he was getting his tattoo, and I'd wanted one for a while, but I wasn't going to get one that day, but he said since I was leaving the state I should get one, kind of a momento I guess. I got a wolf tattoo, very beautifully done, I don't regret it.

I got the wolf tattoo because they've always been my favorite animal, I like to think it represents my wild side. I'd like to get my second one here someday, got it on my right shoulder and I want one on my left shoulder, an opposite wolf image, would be pretty sweet, for now, I'm content. Just make sure it's something you really want.

And tattoos DO hurt, I mean...they're putting a needle into your skin rapidly to ink your skin a certain color, of course it hurts. I like to think I don't have a great tolerance, average really, but it wasn't such terrible pain I wouldn't do it again.

Might get a Gears of War cog tag on my leg. I enjoyed the game and love the cog with the skull in :D. Also the Band Winnebago deal has a "no mutants" logo which is like a skull and cross bones with three eyes. I think tattoo's are a good thing. But i would go with what alot of people have said and avoid getting girl's names and or sports teams done.

Wait, is it like getting a shot, or is it worse? What would you compare it to?
I have never gotten one personally, but how people I know have described it, it would be comparable to a bunch of little shots that don't hurt, but since they go on for so long it begins to.

I think the important thing is to have a meaning for the tattoo. I got one on my back that says "fortunate" in Tibetan. I thought about it a lot, and I think the design looks really good. I resented it for a time because my father died 4 months after I got it, so I didn't feel that fortunate at the time, but now it is ok.

And the good think about having it on my back is that I don't normally see it, so I rediscover it every time I see it.

So it's mostly just the amount of time and endurance, you'd say?
yeah, depending on the tat.

I plan on getting the Japanese Kanji for wolf and two wolf pawprints on the back of my neck. It will be in a spot where I can show them off or hide them if I want to.

I had thought about getting a tattoo of a dragon and a wolf in a loving embrace outlining the shape of a heart but I am glad I never did. The dragon would have represented my ex-fiance and the wolf would have been me. It would have been a mistake so never do anything like that unless they are dead or they are family or your kids or something like that.

So I want my first tattoo, but I don't want just anything, so to anyone who has a tattoo...

How did you decided yours? And are there any you regret?
I have three smaller ones that i love. I'm not a tattooed canvas, and I love the looks on people's faces that have known me for a little bit, but never seen me with my shirt off. "Whoa! You have TATTOOS?" My tats all came from dreams that I had. The biggest one I have takes up most of my right shoulder, but ends just above the sleeve on a short sleeved shirt. It's a roman foot soldier in a cotton loin cloth sitting in a rough chair leaning forward tiredly on a spear he would use in a Phalanx. His armor, helmet, and sandals are on the ground around where he's sitting. I've had recurring dreams about this guy for years. I got him inked about six months ago; I regret nothing. My advice, choose a tat that means something to you, and has a special significance in your life. Some image from nature that represents you, your animal form, your best friend represented in some image you choose. I would advise against just getting any old thing that looks "cool". What you think is cool now may change over time. My best friend is a tattoo artist; he's been doing it for seven years, and he always tells me about 30 somethings coming in to get tats that they got when they were younger inked over because the tats no longer hold any significance to them. read: that ultra sexy-butterfly above your butt you got when you were 23 that now looks like a blotted ink stain from having two kids, and not working out properly for ten years. Tats are with you for life, if you don't want to drop the coin to have them removed. Think hard about it before you do it.

I was tempted to get recurring dream figures inked but decided against it for the now :) Maybe someday though....

My tattoos:
A little lamb on the front of my shoulder, above my clavicle.
"Good friends we have
Good friends we've lost
Along the way" on my left arm.
And a flaming Joker card on my right arm.
And I'm getting another one today.

Eh, I guess they could, but it would look bad. That's why I say avoid them :)
What exactly is a tramp stamp btw? :/ is it like a heart or something that just looks a bit generically slutty?
Usually women get them, and I assume they're meant to attract men's attention.
No silly, its so guys have something to look at when they're uh.....ermm....you get the idea.

As for me, I've got a few more years to think deeply about what I want permanently inked onto my body.

I want to have two tattoos, though they go together. Each one will go on opposite shoulders, cut off around where a short sleeve shirt should so I can retain work professionalism.

They will be black outlines, abstract, and with no words or even words in foreign languages (even though I do know a guy from Japan and all that...)

Thus, they should be crescent shaped. One will be the moon. The second will have flames, to be the sun.

Full sleeves are the way to go. And don't listen to the "It has to have a deep and profound meaning" camp, that's all horseshit.
It's all too true. I've got to two tattoos right and left thigh, and and I'm going in for my first session of my chest piece next week. I've never had any regrets. I've planned out my left sleeve, both sides of my rib cage, and my right and left calves. I'm very go big or go home in my tattoos, I want a full body suit by the time I die.
All the tattoos I've got and plan to getting have a certain level of 'profound meaning' but ultimately I just like them. I think they're beautiful, and find them addictive.
Start with something smaller and concealable, because even though you can get tattoos removed now a days it hurts and is super expensive. Plus if it's smaller you can better decide if you want something bigger, and so you get a better understanding of what your body can deal with pain wise. Just be careful in choosing an artist, do research into medical concerns, proper sterilization, and the like. Also don't take pain killers or get drunk before you go, pain killers and alcohol are blood thinners, and if you're drunk flop are more when you get tattooed and then you'll probably regret it 'cause it'll look like shit.

Both of mine barely hurt, but I got distracted from the pain 'cause I was talking to my artist and was focused on that, not the pain. It was kinda like getting pinched just a little bit over and over again. Bonus though after a little bit your body releases endorphins and it's good. It's about personal pain tolerance, and nerve lay out. Certain places just suck to get tattooed: the rib cage, the upper inner arm, the ass, breasts, genitals, and feet.

I'd get a tattoo of some random passer by on my butt cheek... and his mouth would be the, Heh. I shouldn't go on.~

But as for tattoo I don't reccomend anything "Meaningful" to you like a person as sooner or later they die or leave you, and remember that butter fly will become a pterodactyl in 60 odd years.

I'm looking forward to getting a tattoo on my eighteenth, or sooner, but I'm having a really hard time picking one. A lot of people are saying to go with tribal or a Japanese symbol (Maybe 'sugar substitute?').

I like it a lot.
