It definitely warrants legal action. This idiot caused a great deal of grievous mental and emotional anguish on so many of these girls publicly. That kind of behavior can not be condoned by any authority that hopes to remain credible.
I know what this person did was offensive and rude but I don't think it would give these girls caused these girls " grievous mental and emotional anguish." unless they had insecurity or emotional issues.
You can't be serious. Have you perchance ever known any teenage girls?

Someone comes along and posts fliers everywhere about how nice your boobs are, or how ugly your face is, or how so-and-so says you sleep around... and they're supposed to just be "okay" about it, or they have "emotional issues?"

That's what this guy did. It wasn't just "Hot." Read the article again--he took these girls apart in front of the school.
so what people say behind there backs is fine as long as it doesnt get printed and shown all over or they dont hear about it?

Yeah, there isn't any law broken here, at least not in Florida, if he got all the stuff off Facebook, that means those women put out the material, what is more he isn't doing this for profit, it's not like he was using there images to sell a product, he was just handing out a flyer.

Am I the only one who thinks it was right he was arrested? Blatant sexism and posting private details and treating them like objects.. Ugh.. It shows how much most guys respect women, and it sickens me.

They're real people. You do NOT humiliate them and "grade" them like that. I'm glad he got expelled too. :D

I'm also incredibly disgusted about the number of people that think he shouldn't be punished at all. If he gets away with this, those girls will go though hell for the next few years before people forget, and this whole situation will keep it fresh for longer. Depending on what he said about the 'Nots' that were on the list, and maybe even some of the 'Hots', we could be looking at counselling or worse. Again, this was a calculated attack.
You'd be hard pressed to find someone who wasn't bullied at some time or another during their life. You don't see every bully getting arrested, do you?

Also, you're clearly overestimating what these girls go through. Sure, the ones who get insulted will be pissed off for a few weeks, but it sure as hell won't last a few years. And lot's of people would be in the same boat considering he did it with 50 girls so they sure as hell won't be getting hell for it for years.

Ever heard the phrase "Ignorance is bliss"? Maybe even "What you don't know can't hurt you"?

As far as I know, all my friends slag me off behind my back, and just go along with me for the crack, but I don't know that, so I assume they don't. If I did, I would, ironically, have no friends.

Good point. The bullying I went through was severe, targeted and unrelenting for several years (1999-2003, then some different people from 2003-2007), mainly due to the fact I was a Londoner living in Newcastle, on the other side of the country. In the classes I was in, I was THE guy to go for, so I probably had it harder than a lot. I can't say I suffered the most, because I'm still alive.

But yeah, unless this is a huge school, 50 girls would be a remarkable chunk of it, so at least they can cover each others backs, if you see what I mean. Still shouldn't have happened though.

Apparently people like us are few and far between.

I'm sorry, but the word "slut" is not "oppressive". It's an unkind, gender-specific derogatory term for a promiscuous woman. It's wrong to talk that way about someone, but it is not the kind of hate speech that you seem to be suggesting.

I'm not saying that it's wrong to be offended by something like this. You should definitely confront the person saying hurtful things about you. That's what a responsible, mature human being does. A spineless person, on the other hand, tries to press criminal charges for nothing more than adolescent douchebaggery. Prosecuting the kid blows this way out of proportion, and is a sign of utter weakness from the offended party.

He should be happy he's in juvenile court. With the systemic insanity running it's course through the legal system, he might have ended up being charged with creating child pornography for putting the word "bisexual" next to a picture of someone under 18.

Good job American Justice System - you've just successfully created yet another criminal for the rest of us to deal with.

If you're not in the know, let me tell you what I mean. The US Justice System is awful. It is gut-wrenchingly awful - and not just because it doesn't work, but because of how it works.

Everyone is guilty. Everyone. Doesn't matter how small your crime is - YOU. ARE. GUILTY. And because you're guilty, that gives every cop with a superiority complex within ten miles to go apeshit on your ass 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As if that isn't bad enough, then you have to deal with the courts - oh how I love the courts. Don't be fooled, every judge is corrupt. Every one has something that they'd rather be doing right now than be proceeding over your trial. And if you are "lucky" enough to be graced with a trial by jury, don't be too happy - jury members are among the biggest dumbasses that exist. They don't know shit, don't care about you, and would much rather be at home stuffing their fat face and watching football.

After you are more than likely found guilty, you have to be processed by the penal system. In this kid's case, he's going to Juvenile Hall, or Juvie. You'd think that it isn't as bad as jail, right? Wrong. Don't kid yourself - Juvie is where little confused children get turned into hardened criminals. So after he is put through the arduous and never ending process of being... processed, he goes to Juvie. Once there, the guards and sometimes Warden will be there to put the fear into you before you go to your cells. It isn't pleasant. Next, you are paired up with that kid from 5th grade who carved swastikas in every wooden surface he came in contact with. Later, you go to school - because you're legally a minor, you still have to follow truant laws, so that means Jail School, and boy is it unpleasant. You know that one time you went to detention, and seemingly every one of the worst kids in the school were there, and you were scared shitless the whole time? Try doing that every day. Usually, this includes weekends.

I could go on and on and on about how fucked up this shit is, but I'll leave you with that to help you get the picture. What I'm trying to say is that this kid does not need to be prosecuted - because he will undoubtedly get convicted, and sentenced, and then we'll have to deal with yet another criminal douche in our cities.

TL;DR: Did he do something wrong? Yes. Does he need to be expelled? Hell no. Does he need to be prosecuted? ...Fuck you.

isn't this all a bit much for a stupid high school stunt?

A "stupid high school stunt"? Are you serious? Falling on your ass because you tried to ride a bike down some stairs qualifies as a "stupid high school stunt".

This was a calculated attack on adolescent females in a disgusting manner that showed no regard for their well-being or reputation. This was exploitation of minors, sexist, misogynist bullying and defamation. This kid got off way too lightly.
You must of had a hella' good life if you consider this bad and haven't came to accept that humans act like this or given up on humanity.
Whe you see humans I only see stupid men who want to show women their place, but I guess whatever works for you.

This kid was a total douche and was rightly expelled. But prosecuted? I don't know...

EDIT: After reading the full story, the kid could be arrested on sexual harassment charges.

I agree with you. Even though I am not American, we have a similar judicial system over here.

Oh well, at least we don't have a "Three Strikes Law" over here.

I see a kid pulling an immature and offensive prank. I don't see "stupid men who want to show women their place."

But the word 'slut' is used to oppress women to feel shame for their sexuality. Calling women 'slut's lead to slut-shaming which is what fuels rape culture in society. There are different types of oppression besides banning people from doing something you know? Shaming and humilliation are a form of exactly that. It may not be full-blown hate speech, sure. But it's still a sexist word use to put down women for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

I'm not saying he deserves to be arrested. That's not the issue I have with this. I'm not from the US, I don't know your laws. What sucks is not that people defend him for uncalled criminal charges, but that people dismiss his behaviour as just 'adolescent douchebaggery'. What he did, he did it with the purpose of objectifying, degrading and insulting the women involved. It was an action fueled by his misogyny and dismissed by the unnoticed sexism that shapes most people's lives.

Besides, it was the parent's who filed the charges, right? Not the victims. How would you feel if your daughter's sex life was made public in such a terrible way? Would you dismiss it as just teenage douchebaggery when it's your daughter being called a 'slut' for doing something that has no inherently negative values? (I'm talkin' 'bout having sex, btw.)

Yup, and now it's all come full circle. This has to mean something, it has to...

In all seriousness, kind of extreme getting the police involved, especially the father saying that the punishment didn't go far enough. The kids just a teenager messing around.

Yeah, because when someone refers to a woman as a *****, he's calling her a female dog, or when someone calls someone a bastard, they're saying his parents weren't married when he was born. Not every insult is literal.

but that people dismiss his behaviour as just 'adolescent douchebaggery'.
It was adolescent douchebaggery. Rating the opposite gender based on their looks? It happens all the time, everyday. And it's not just the men who do it. Would you call it a crime if a girl giggled to her girlfriend about how "X is SOOO cute" or "Y looks like he's a creep". Not at all. It's still just as offensive. The only difference is this guy went around and made it public, which is a douchebag thing to do.
