I make a point not to judge people, but by the age of 17 a child should know that you don't think like this.

By the time I, and everyone I know, was 17 I already knew:

1. Don't drink excessively.
2. Don't do drugs.
3. Be warry of strangers.
4. Respect your body.
5. Watch both ways before crossing lanes.

Now you can't expect someone by the age of 17 to not know this, he is a year away from being 18, at that point, he should know better than this.
