No one in their right mind would have done this.
He's 17. Case closed.
I believe a five year old child would have known this to be a very bad idea, and would not have tried it. I think there is something much more wrong here, healthy human beings don't ignore their self-preservation instincts for a piece of plastic. I won't assume what could have caused this, but humans are an animal, a type of living organism, and self-preservation is universal of all living organisms, age is negligible.

He didn't even do research; there is barely any difference between the original iPad and iPad 2. I feel sorry for his amazing stupidity...

And people say Apple aren't evil a kid wants an Ipad so bad he's willing to sell a kindney to buy one
And how is that evil? They make a product people want?

Truly, this is the work of Satan!

I'm surprised that he didn't sell it for the iKidney. We all know that will happen someday.

And there dies the myth about the chinese ingenuity. Those guys were clearly as moronic as the kid.

Every culture, regardless of myth or stereotype, have their nitwits. I being of Chinese descent, have a brother who's about as sharp as a bowling ball. Yet my entire family consists of varios kinds of engineers (Software, robotic, chemical etc) and accountants.

A person, by age 17 doesn't know that selling an organ for a piece of technology, one that'll be outdated in a matter of months no less, is a bad idea?

I would facepalm, but I don't think I could facepalm hard enough to properly convey my feelings about this.

Apple consumers, the definition of stupid.
Curious, does ever owning an Apple product in your life count you as a consumer? Because in that case, a very sizable part of the world's population are idiots.

And that's terrible.

I've a whole set of puns ready...but I think it'd be poor taste to use them.

And to those saying he's whacked out...consider what you'll be doing to bring £3,000 in...

Now a dying person gets a kidney and a second chance at life, while the kid gets a couple years of happiness with his iPad until he dies off before having had a chance to procreate and pass on his stupid genes. Sounds win-win to me.

In all seriousness though, how does a parent not notice that their child has snuck out of the house and sold an organ? He would have needed the means to get to the hospital and it said he was there for a couple days - so the parent noticed when the kid had a bunch of gadgets, but not that he was missing during the time it took for recovery?

And I don't think age is really an excuse for this kind of stupidity. Children and teenagers can make bad decisions, yes, but selling your organs really takes the cake.

Cool, where can I get this done? I would of course, negotiate up to 10,000 though. And to everyone about to quote me and call me stupid, I would do it.
Just find the person who needs the kidney and cut out the cheapskate middleman! You could get $50,000! Its only some DIY surgery :D
