Ah, much better.
...Go on.

OT: My main gripe with this character is no the design but the fact that her moveset is but a mix of already existing ones (a bit of Xiaoyu, a bit of Christie, a lot of Lily).

As for Haradas reaction, I doubt that she will actually be excluded.
Thank you. If you desire I can offer you my Pinterest collection.

Anyway, if this is the reason, then it is fair.
However it is only that sadly.
Btw, did we ever saw a Cat-Girl Singer Idol ever again in a fighting game and we complain how unoriginal she is?
Hmm... Lemme see...
So, we had an idol-psychic soldier Athena in King of Fighters, but the only complaints I heard were about here redesign in later games.
We also had at least 2 catgirls: Felicia from Darkstalkers and Taokaka from Blazblue, but majority likes them.

There maybe (and surely is) more.

Hmm she better be quick, because I'll really think I'll be playing as her. I generally play the girls in Tekken games because I favor the faster style. That's why Alisa, Lili, and Law are my usual go to fighters.

Also I don't know what all the fuss is about, Tekken has a giant panda, a bear, a wooden traning dummy, and boxing kangaroo as playable characters. A cat girl is positively normal by comparison.

I see that more as him saying well if your all on one site then fine ill make you a character that fits your closed minded principles. in other words hes kinda making fun of the one twitter user who sent him only the neogaff thread link as doing so was unnecessary and rude.
And you're more than welcome to take his tweet as such, but that doesn't diminish the childish nature of the response. Nor does it remove the implication of his insult towards Western gamers and Western culture as a whole.

Don't get me wrong. I can appreciate his frustration. And perhaps his response really was directed only towards the posters of that Neogaf thread. I just feel his response was overly dramatic and completely unnecessary. If nothing else, he probably should have thought about it before he blanket insulted an entire culture of fans that are (or perhaps were) going to buy his game.

That's what I was getting at.

And really, this is just another fine example of why people shouldn't vent their anger in tweets, especially if they're a game developer. The incidents that have occurred during the last three months (as well as Phil Fish's history) should be evidence enough of this.

I wish more devs would heed this advice: Stay the hell off of Twitter.

Yes, because it is the first time a Japanese writer/author/director/etc show an alternative image of Americans.
Because it is totally ok if the American movies slap us eith the stereotypes all the time.
Let the Japaneses show how much AMERICA have the American people inside them!!!!!!
Who the hell said it was okay? I certainly didn't...

Just because one form of bigotry or stereotyping takes place in one culture, it doesn't mean we should be okay with another form of bigotry or stereotyping. Especially if one isn't comfortable with either stereotype.

I think there was someone asking about examples of devs being reamed over 'poorly done' female or minority characters?

Oh hey, a dev being insulted by people on the internet because they didn't like the representation, so now all we get is more stereotypical white characters.

Isn't that downright amazing.

So now one small group of customers has the power to make companies pull content from games that people outside their whiny self entitled little circle may have wanted? well shit.

This is just so much about stupid people being stupid. Amongst the other characters in the series that have already been mentioned, Tekken has, ever since the first game, featured a man who wears a cat head/mask and who has a tail. A female character wearing cat paws, ears and a tail is just too stupid to allow in the game. That cat headed dude (who may actually really have the head of a cat) though? We've been loving playing as him for 20 years now.

From a fighting game fan, people need to STFU about characters they don't like. More different playable characters is always superior to fewer. I mean, it looks like complaints weren't about anything substantial, just some random complaints about how they felt about the character design in general. Seems a lot of people don't like the fact that she was essentially a furry. But I would play any character that I liked the style for, not really a matter of how they look.

It is possible to ignore something you don't like versus wanting it to be destroyed. The ladder is unreasonable when something is causing no one any harm by it's mere existence.

Playing as the character is optional, why not leave that option there for those who do want to play as her? Seems like it does more harm than good.
Because if the Internet as a whole had a slogan, it would be "things I don't like have no right to exist". SEE ALSO: Justin Bieber, PewDiePie

EVERYBODY LISTEN

HE IS JOKING!!!

Harada is a known troll

he later joked she would be replaced in the US version by a musclebound skinhead character

that being said it wasn't just Neogaf that hated her. the comments on SRK and eventhubs (the two biggest FGC sites) both were near universal in their dislike

here is the trailer in case anyone wants to see her in action

I REALLY hope that's a joke.

Because 'deleting' a character, due to some anons bitching on a forum...
All that shows is the developers being an idiot with NO spine.
Why is this spineless? Harada is apparently removing a character in US, sure, but he's also apparently going to be adding a replacement character. A male beefcake for generalization points, but Harada is apparently willing to put in the work to (because of our bitching and moaning) replace a character for the US, despite established plans.

If it's anything, stupid, childish, whatever; it's a bit far from spineless. Tekken 7 isn't being cancelled over the outcry, neither is it being cancelled in the US over the outcry (which is at least a bit more likely a scenario; clear dislike from foreign markets were displayed here, so why bother with the cost of localization/distribution?). Devs have done sillier things in similar scenarios; just look at Phil Fish's developer status.

And unless you think devs should just ignore consumer feedback (that they don't construe), you probably don't want to implicate 'anons bitching on a forum'. You and I both are virtually indistinguishable to a developer on a project timeline; we're ALL anons (unless you want to pull out your distinguishing credentials now). If Harada's response wasn't to your liking, then we had, if not responsibility, then the capability to cull the dumb outcry that caused this scenario in the first place. Because he DID make an apparent decision on the outcry, whether you were pleased by it or not.

Way I see it, we have three choices in considering developer-consumer communication:
-Consider our perspective negligible (in light of trolls and whiners)
-If we consider our perspective worth a damn, take responsibility in culling trolls and whiners, or
-If we consider our perspective worth a damn, distinguish our communities from the ones trolls and whiners reside in

She looks fine to me. Fighting game characters are always outlandish and weird. Okay, maybe her face looks a little off--too small, I think--but other than that, I don't see the problem. I mean, this is the series that has a fighting panda bear, right? Come on guys...

Kind of funny when you think of it, people yell for more diversity etc but whenever it's done people yell they don't like it. Devs can't win either way.

Except the customers in question were extremely vocal about not wanting the character in the game.
What about the people who want the character? Just because they don't scream loud enough like a bunch of crazies doesn't mean that they don't exist. We live in a sad fuckin' world if a bunch of nobodies can take something away from the rest of the people because they don't like it. Don't like it, don't use it. That fuckin' simple. They should grow the fuck up instead of acting offended because of a freakin' video game character. It's pathetic.

Couldn't have said it better myself, there's no excuse of this at all. The dev has 2 options:
1 - Leave the character in - People that don't like her can not use her and those that do can use her.
2 - Take the character out - People that don't like her can still not use her and those that do now cannot also.

There's literally no difference either way for those that don't like her but a big difference for those that do. Why punish them for loudmouth jerks.

This almost sort of fits.

The principle is basically the same. They listened to (some) consumers and after that they took measures that seemed to be the most appropriate for the situation.
The problem with 1 is that if they leave her what would be the next move of the loudmouths. Would they have enough push to boycott the game or even smear it?
It all ends with how much money they are willing to lose.

Human stupidity at it's finest, someday we may somehow learn to stop trying to force our views onto others.... maybe. It's not like ignoring the character/game/whatever is that hard.

EDIT: To clarify, "human stupidity at it's finest" was referring to people who yell to get things removed (weather it be a game from a store, a character from a game or whatever), I was not referring to Gatlank. You do make a point even if I find the fact people are like that annoying/stupid.

Oh sh*t, I forgot Felicia was actually a show/nurse girl. Silly me.
Taokaka? Yes, she is a cat-girl, but she isn't a singer or an idol. Except I don't know something about the story of hers.
Also I mean a character to be a Cat-Girl AND Idol/Singer at the same time.
