Is that seriously how entitled we've become? we call for the removal of a character because it's design is apparently "lazy". Wtf is wrong with people.

It's a new character, if you don't want to play as it, don't play as it. Why in the fuck would anyone ask for an option to delete it from the game, and/or demand it's removal entirely?

This is the most fucked up thing I have seen in recent times.

It's not his fault. Now that I think about it, this might just be him trolling the people complaining about it.

And who said it was offensive? I haven't seen any comments like that. Linky linky?
You're right no one said that and i hope no one will. I stopped paying close attention to the comments and skiping pages after 5, definetly dont want to go back to that just to make sure.

Oh for fuck sake Harada. If you want to listen to criticism, then add, not detract; or ignore, since you know others will want it.

The character is absolutely hideous, so he could've tried to improve it so it's not so blatantly furry. A costume change, maybe as DLC, or doesn't this game have DLC?

Hahaha. Oh wow. He sulked about the criticism so much, and talked about taking his ball and going home. I didn't think he would actually do it.
This sounds like something a bully would say.

You (not you specifically) do not get to be an asshole to someone and then when they say, "fuck you guys, I'm leaving", and then you and your friends go, "What an asshole."

No. YOU were the one being an asshole to start with, you don't get to call him out.
While you did specify that it wasn't me specifically (for the record, i hadn't even heard about any of this until he started talking about removing it, nor have i ever interacted with him online).
That said, i still believe it was an overreaction to begin making heavy handed jabs at American culture then outright removing the character from the American release. The way it was conducted makes it seem more like a revenge strike against the people who criticized him than helpfully tailoring a product for the region. As with anyone involved in any kind of art form, there will always be those who seek only to complain, but there seems to be a large portion of the Tekken fan base that like the character and are practically begging him on twitter to not removed the character, but from his response to most of them he seems to have gone into some kind of crusade mind set where he just dismisses their concerns.

Other than that, surely the people complaining of her removal couldn't be the same people who hated her in the first place, could they? Hypocrisy is hardily rare on the internet, but that would something else entirely.

Ah, much better.
...Go on.

OT: My main gripe with this character is no the design but the fact that her moveset is but a mix of already existing ones (a bit of Xiaoyu, a bit of Christie, a lot of Lily).

As for Haradas reaction, I doubt that she will actually be excluded.
Thank you. If you desire I can offer you my Pinterest collection.

Anyway, if this is the reason, then it is fair.
However it is only that sadly.
Btw, did we ever saw a Cat-Girl Singer Idol ever again in a fighting game and we complain how unoriginal she is?
Hmm... Lemme see...
So, we had an idol-psychic soldier Athena in King of Fighters, but the only complaints I heard were about here redesign in later games.
We also had at least 2 catgirls: Felicia from Darkstalkers and Taokaka from Blazblue, but majority likes them.

There maybe (and surely is) more.
Oh sh*t, I forgot Felicia was actually a show/nurse girl. Silly me.
Taokaka? Yes, she is a cat-girl, but she isn't a singer or an idol. Except I don't know something about the story of hers.
Also I mean a character to be a Cat-Girl AND Idol/Singer at the same time.
Then no, I don't think so. Maybe some really niche one had one, but I doubt that any of the big ones had such a character.

To the people asking why he cares about a thread on Neogaf, I was recently speaking to a Game Developer friend who has been working in the industry in Australia and America for the last 15 years and asked him which sites developers actually listen to if any.

His answer was the the two sites besides their own sites where they look for feedback are Kotaku and Neogaf. And frankly, considering how dumb most developers are these days... it wouldn't surprise me if that was fact.

I'm glad this happened the way it did. It's about time rude anonymous backlash got some unsavory repercussions.

"That thing you made sucks. It sucks so much I don't want to see it."
"Oh really? Well I'll make it so you won't see it."
"Hey! You're a dick Harada!"

Good job Harada. Points for balls.
I wonder if the internet has learned a lesson. I doubt it, but we'll see.

What does your game developer friend think of how dumb you think most game developers are? Does he agree? Assuming he's the lone smart one, which developer does he work for/which successful indie is he?

He actually tends to agree. Especially the AAA space. You should hear his rants about his experiences with Ubisoft...

On the same token.

You don't bake cookies for your class and give three students out of 40 a first taste, hear that snotty girl say "God, this tastes like he never baked anything before in his life", then promptly take all the cookies and go give them to the class around the hall.

I wasn't being an asshole. Neither were my other classmates. Why should my whole class suffer for things we didn't have a chance to experience because a small percentage of the class said something? It might not have been my cup of tea, but I would have understood the effort of it.

It's an asshole thing to punish the group for what a minority did. That didn't fly in school, namely because it doesn't fly in the real world either.

Wow, that's really sad, especially considering those two sites are run by two of the worst people. Tyler hosted revenge porn of a site user for a long time and his "community" if you want to call it that is a toxic echochamber of fail, if you have an unpopular opinion that goes against their hive mind or their moderators, then you'll get banned flat out. Steven Totillo - well, let's just say he can't keep his "journalists" from trying to sell their friends games without disclosing their relationships. They also heavily moderate any type of criticism of the articles they print, so once again - a huge echo chamber.

So, basically these places are going to two of the sites that have the worst track record in terms of having gamers being able to voice their actual opinions. That's going to work out well.

Half the fun of Tekken has always been its fun and zany character designs. Not happy to hear such an extreme measure is being taken because some people bitched on a forum. Hope the version that makes its way to Australia is based off the European version and not the American one.

As far as I remember him sayin, they're there for the quantity of users, not the quality.

I don't care about that character. It might be included or not, it makes no difference to me.

But I would like Harada to include an option for some characters to be excluded of the list of selectables, for versus or online games... Specifically, Gon and Boskonovitch.

I dig her look. In a game with dinosaurs, bears, raptors and kangaroos, people get mad at this and consider her a lazy creation? Just make her DLC so everyone wins. If you want her, buy her. If not, don't.

Holding a character hostage until enough people suck his dick over her just because some dolts on a forum decried a female character as sexist simply based on how she looks (again) is absolutely ridiculous on his part.

I don't care about Tekken, catgirls, or anything else at stake here, but someone needs to tell that man not to bother reading the comments.
