It's not like I can just go out and play it on a console! That would drop me down from being part of the PC master race.
Or force me to waste $300 on a console, $10 getting the game again, and IDK how much getting a TV, seeing as the ones in my house are used by my family to watch TV.
Not quite as easy as you make it out to be. I could get a new computer for that money.

So let's see. How did this all pan out?

[SNIP]
So think of it this way, let's say your favorite game on your preferred console, after being abandoned by the developer, was suddenly being ported to another platform. Except, this time, it was being done so with a wealth of free, extra content.

How many of you would be upset at this news? How many of you would be angry at the original developer for, after saying he was done with the game, licensing a new version with new content on a platform you don't have the game on? How annoyed would you be to realize you'd have to buy the game twice to experience this new content?

If you say to yourself, "I wouldn't be", you're lying.
The problem is, this [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_Gaiden_Sigma] happens [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_2:_Sons_of_Liberty#Substance] all [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sonic_Adventure_DX] the [http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Halo_PC#Features] time [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_Gaiden_Sigma_2]
Sort of reinforces my point, doesn't it?

Which begs the question: "Why would the console players be so insulting and cruel towards the PC players over this announcement?"

Having dealt with it so often you'd think they would be more accommodating, given they know how annoying and frustrating it can be.

Kind of makes it ironically hypocritical when (some*) console players call PC gamers childish and entitled.

Once again, PC gamers are only pissed because that promise that we'd continue getting support was a lie, and they refuse to give the PC open source coding for mods to make the game have a life of its own.

Seriously, I can live with them getting extra content. I payed $10, and I payed for what I got at the time. Griping about it would be like griping about a DLC release. I'm not entitled to it.

However, I AM mad about the drop in updates. We were promised updates. He made 1 major update then cut and run. Which is fine. But the standard thing to do is then to release to source code and mod tools to the community to ensure the game continues selling and thrives.

Yet he refuses to do so. For no reason. And thats why PC gamers are pissed. Its a game that owes is success to its devout community. It was us who took up the role of marketing, of testing the game while still in the Beta phase, and keeping the project going. Asking for mod tools or support isn't a demand thats too far out there.

I know, right? It's almost like the litany of console gamers who constantly berate PC gamers, usually accusing them of "elitism", are guilty of the very things they allude to.

Oh the irony!

Glance two posts up from your own. If your timing had been just a bit quicker your post would have been deliciously prophetic.

Turns out not buying Terraria when I was introduced to it was a good thing. Guess I can thank my Minecraft addiction for that.

It's funny because there are more assholish posts claiming that the elite PC master race and gunna end up getting all butt hurt and swamp the posts then there is any justification for those posts.

Either way, dick move, won't be buying their next game. If he was "Sticking to his guns" he would be releasing a final update that was worth a crap for PC.

You know, I'd be totally fine with this if I could just download a billion mods for this game. The genre (someone mentioned "world building," so I'm going with that) really lends itself to mods, and I could easily see myself being able to do some quick 2D objects (Minecraft is in the unfortunate 3rd dimension, and I never learned how to use any free 3D modeling tools [and am waaaay too lazy for the game of "math the points"]). It's kinda sad that the devs aren't willing to throw the community a bone here--Terraria is a stupidly fun game. Unfortunately, once everyone runs out of things to do, it'll disappear into the ether on the PC (here's some optimism that the console team will keep updating their version regularly). Games like this don't really don't have any staying power without mods (unless someone, somewhere, thinks they can make this an E-sport; it's certainly not winning any awards with its story here), or at least frequent content dumps (free or otherwise).

And to the console users who are saying "Get over it, it's just $10! Entitled, entitled, entitled.": Developers have broken promises to you as well. (Some of) you were just as angry then as PC users are now. Telling us we're entitled elitists doesn't make developers think about the promises they make. Getting pissed with us and demanding better services at least shows we're all on the same page when it comes to quality.

Lastly, fellow frustrated PC users: Next time we get a port with more content than the consoles--despite that content being promised to consoles--let's remember this and tell developers to keep their damned promises, even if it's not directly benefiting us. Let's get pissed off with console users.

Enough with PC vs. console, let's all fight together for gaming, damnit.

Oh, look, the fire's almost out. Nice of him to dump this big pile of gasoline here.

Personally I never got into Terraria. I was too deep into Minecraft when it became popular. I suppose now that's for the best. Minecraft updates can be really halfassed, but at least it's still updating.

Yeah, and lets be honest, most of us paid about $25 USD for Minecraft, and I know that I personally have over 200 hours logged on that damned game ( even if the game has no way to keep track of it) compared to a movie, popcorn and a drink at AMC, which will run you about the same cost for 2 hours of entertainment, NO ONE has the right to complain if MC quit updating tomorrow.

me thinks someone is insecure about their e-peen.... and its not the pc gamers this time around...

i can see why people are angry. i know i would were i to keep playing terraria to this date.
this whole thing was supposed to be iterative. buy our game, and we will keep updating it.
they basically made one big update and called it a day.
id say its still worth the money, but the dev kinda turned out to be an asshole (and not just with that whole console port thing mind you), so yeah, if you dont trust that dev anymore, you know what to do.

and if you feel the need to post another "hur dur pc elitizm!" dont worry, a bit of insecurity is nothing to be ashamed of.

Well, now I'm definitely getting the Xbox version. Yay new content! I've been saddened ever since I learned that Terraria wasn't getting updates, but now I have a way of feeding my sweet sweet addiction.
Like this guy. He's totally ready to buy the game over again on a new console. This guy (and many like him) is an untapped resource. I can't believe they didn't release it only for the Xbox 360. Just imagine how many "Mumorpuger"s out there would be willing to pay for the PS3 version again to get more content next year.

...wow, you are such a tool...

Anyway, yeah, no. This sucks. Not because of the lack of updates. Not even because of broken promises; scumbags exist. What sucks is the inequality between console and PC. It's probably going to cost 1200 points, which is 15 dollars. The problem is that PC gamers aren't even offered the choice to pay that extra $5... if they want that new content, they have to pay $15. And this jerk... what's his face... he doesn't care. That's why people are so pissed, I think.
I'm a tool for being excited about a game I already own, and my willingness to buy it again?

Should I apply that same logic to me purchasing Beyond Good and Evil HD, or Psychonauts?

Wow, makes the creator come off as a bit of a lazy sell out.

"Yeah, well we decided to just have someone else make the port, which was sweet for us, but I have nothing to do with the stuff they're adding and don't intend to add any more... Pardon me while I go count the cash that I made selling the rights."

On the plus side I never played the game, so this affects me not.

No, of course, not. I'm expecting you to buy those six times over. I mean, that's a given. Who here hasn't paid for a sixth copy of either of those games while still owning the other five?

Of course you should apply the same logic! What's the difference? Did you think that was a "gotcha" question? That I would defend the repurchasing (not as a gift) of Beyond Good and Evil or Psychonauts while a working copy is still in my possession? Well... I wouldn't... I'd actually think that would be a pretty "toolish" thing to do.

Whelp, whatever new shit Spinks is working on can fall by the wayside in favour of me getting through my backlog. I'm not interested any more after what feels like a betrayal.

Not buying the console version either, even though I could. Terraria? On a controller? Considering how fussy inventory management is with a mouse...yeah, bugger this noise.
