Terrible movies that you like

... to even suggest that Big Trouble In Little China is somehow terrible is an affront to the senses.

When I saw it as a Lad, I held it accountable for all the things my life should have been. THAT is true cinema.

For my part? People say 'The Warriors' is a bad film. Because it is. No one who was paid for that ever heard of this 'acting' thing, but I love it with all my heart. It was probably one of the first things my older brother shared with me without any malice. That might add to why I like it. That and it's awesome.

'Hudson Hawk' is said to be a bad film. I... I really don't know about this. The people who made it obviously said "Let's do something that shows how much cocaine we do in any given time". Given that it was the beginning of the 90's, the answer was a metric fuck ton. And it showed. In hilarious ways. So how is that a failure?

Suckerpunch is terrible?

Since when is fighting an giant minigun wierding demon samurai while Bjork is playing terrible?

And I'm not even going to start on the dragon vs. orcs vs. B-24 battle scene. In fact, that's the reason I watched the movie right there.

Terrible review wise. Obviously I don't think it's terrible but reviews say otherwise. Personally I adore the hell out of the soundtrack and really like the movie also i like that i'm the one that got quoted even though at least 3 people above me mentioned it first

Starship Troopers

Van Helsing - I actually really enjoyed the lunacy of this movie. The Van Helsing as a Catholic James Bond was kind of funny in concept, and his sidekick was actually useful! I loved that about the comic relief/side kick. He'd show up, something weird would be going down, and he would have something in his pouches to help. He didn't directly help most of the time, but he was definitely there to help the hero save the day in a useful and meaningful way. Loved that.

And then there is of course, Dracula. Omg....this Dracula. I loved him, SOOOOO much. He was so campy, and hammy and ate up every cubic foot of scenery when he was on screen. He was a wonderfully old school antagonist vampire, and I loved him for it. Walking up the walls and ceiling while in a rant about how Helsing is messing up his plans, hanging upside down while his wife cries out. "Have you no heart vor owwur pain" *thick accent*

Drac's response while upside down. "NOOOOOOOOO!!!! I .....AM......holllooooow" OMG SO over the top xD It was wonderful!

I never understood why so many people hated Last Action Hero. I mean, come on. It's a parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies starring the actual Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. What more could one possibly want?

Also, it was a really fun movie, and Charles Dance was brilliant as the villain character.

Starship Troopers: Even with shitty main characters, so great to watch. Decent special effects , awesome soundtrack and fun satire.

I know of alot of people who think this is a genuinely good movie. The cheesy acting and characters even work if you keep in mind that the film is a parody of propaganda films. Given Paul Verhoven's ( I am sure I spelled his name wrong) work on Robocop and even Total Recall I can believe that the acting was part of his joke.

I remember seeing it in the theater when it released, and I recall the opening sequence actually being somewhat intense. The camera angle as the reporter gets killed, the bugs eating everyone, and the protagonist, broken and bleeding heading for the camera. I thought that I had maybe seen his death, and that this movie was all going to be a flashback film into how he died. Then it became what it was, which was funny and goofy, and a topless Dina Meyer, oh yes please. God I had such a huge thing for her back in the Johnny Mnemonic/Starship Trooper days. Hell still do really. Everyone was all "ooh Denise Richards!" but I was like "Nah, I'll take the fiesty redhead please!" xD

I've always really liked Wanted. Whenever I flip channels or something and see it on, I'm like, "Am I in the mood to watch James McAvoy curve bullets? Why yes, I do believe I am." And things are good.

Holy shit I totally forgot about this! Actually, now that I think about it, the answer to "what terrible movies do you still love?" is pretty much "anything with Nicolas Cage in it".

Despite the fact that Highlander fans deny the existence of all but the first film, the third with the sorcerer guy is almost as good (so good, Spoony didn't tear it apart like the others) as the original (continuity problems aside), the 4th with the TV show's characters was ok, and the Quickening is cheesy enough to be entertaining (with Michael Ironside and Sean Connery hamming it up). The Source, though, well let's just say that, unless you like watching an albino reverse-Pyramid Head make lame one liners and ham it up, it's incredibly dull.

Underworld is also a guilty pleasure. I'm still hoping they made the 3rd sequel to at least wrap up the "broken masquerade" and other plot lines the third introduced.

I also liked what already was mentioned: Starship Troopers, Judge Dredd, Shoot 'Em Up, Tremors, Fifth Element

Sucker Punch, They could have been more honest in the trailers. That might have been what hurt it commercially.

Alien 3, I still feel betrayed after how great Aliens was and after reading much better scripts, but it's at least servicable as a stand alone scifi film.

Alien Resurection, While we still didn't get the Aliens sequel we wanted, this campfest was at least as close as we might ever get with all the executed meddling the Alien franchise has crawling over it.

...Battlefield Earth.

Oh, it's cheesy, oh, John Travolta hams it up, oh, the camera angles are outright bonkers at times, oh, there's a lot of padding, oh, there's idiosyncracies galore, but I admit, I kinda like it.

Big Trouble in Little China ? Over here in Australia there IS an import company named Wing Kong. I geek out every time I see one of their trucks.
Starship Troopers ? My wife and I went to see it at the cinema on our first date, so it gets nostalgia points <and like another poster, I'll take the red head thanks. And yes seeing another girls boobs on the first date felt kinda awkward>
Sucker Punch, 12ft samurai fighting a 5ft girl armed with a samurai sword and gun ? I'll take the win column thanks.
The Paranormal Movies. I've heard a lot of hate on them, but as some one who loves superstition, folk lore, and all things "real world magic" I love this series.
A big fan of Skeleton Key too. I'm not sure where that sits on people bad movie meter though, but I dont hear many people talk about it.
I like the movie ending to The Mist, seems to be an unpopular opinion.
I never understood why the alternate ending to I am Legend was ever controversial, he lets the infected live ? so the accepted ending is to kill anyone that's different then you ? wow ok.

Split Second, with Rutger Hauer. It's a forgotten little gem if you ask me. Cheesy one liners, over the top acting and nonsensical plot...But oh hell, I love it to bits.

The Ghost and the Darkness: Similar to Split Second, and hilarious to see Michael Douglas ham it up.

GI JOE: Rise of Cobra: Yep, I love it. I find it wonderfully endearing. Tatum is a great main man and Wayans is less annoying than he usually is. My main gripe is that it was here that my dislike for Eccleston began, which tainted my Dr Who time with him.


Robocop 2: "We're proud to present. Robocop 2!" *Robot enters, tears off mask Shrieks like a banshee then dies. Wolfy on spasms on the floor*

Last Action Hero: I love Charles Dance, he's awesome.

Big Trouble in Little China: Possibly one of the greatest movies ever made. Now also as a TMNT episode.

Demolition Man: In the grim future of...1996?! Okay then. Awesome mid 90's Stallone flick. "Here. I knitted you this sweater last night...I didn't just say that did I?"

in regards to backaroo banzai.. well where else do you get to see jeff goldblum in cowboy chaps, plus the theme song gets stuck in your head for years.. excuse me while i go listen to it

Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Disney trying to be all action adventure-y-ish with a pretty flimsy plot even for a "kids" movie; Atlanteans who apparently weren't able to read their own language for like thousands of years, and a dumb twist in allegiance that gets rectified the very next second. The entire movie is kinda stupid, but it's still got some fun characters and character designs and animation style.

Disney's Treasure Planet

Overabandance of CGI, kinda obnoxious characters, and bad comedy, in a universe that has very little internal logic. The whole thing gets saved though by the character of Long John Silver, who just steals the show whenever he's on screen (not that that's too hard to do). He's just this big chunky pirate with the most stereotypical voice performance that still ends up being very nuanced. And his relationship with Jim Hawkins is probably one of the better ones in a Disney movie. I even kind of like the dumb angsty song... sorry.

Those are literally the two Disney movies I would hold in my Top 5 favorite Disney films list... if I did have the urge to list thing from "great" to "best thing ever"...

OT: The High School Musical trilogy... Yes, 3 is better than 2... Yes, 1 is still the better one, despite 3's higher production value... And yes, 2 takes place during summer vacation and only has one song has anything to do with school, "technically"... Then again, I do re-watch #2 the least, anyway...

Other than that, and what I quoted from Casual Shinji, all of the Bionicle movies because it's FUCKING BIONICLE as well as the movie Surf's Up not just because of having Shia LaBeouf in it...

I honestly think Sucker Punch is one of the best movies in the past 10 years. Other than Movie Bob, I don't know anyone else who agrees with me.

i think its a masterpiece, but i cant say i enjoy watching it. it makes me sad!

my confessions and proof i dont care what people think of me the star wars episodes 1-3 and DOA. wont disagree with any negative point anyone makes about the the star wars movies but i still really like them. i really liked the Anakin story, inspite of how badly acted/written it was.

I have a soft spot for final fantasy: advent children. Probably because I have no idea what the story is about anyway. All I see is a movie full of over the top badassery. I mean, about 10 minutes in there's a swordfight on motorcycles and it just gets wackier from there. Here, just look at this: Look me in the eye and tell me that's not freaking awesome. I dare you.
