I hate parents who put their kids in strollers, what are they, paraplegic?
Well what would you rather, being pushed around in a nice comfy chair because your legs are still developing and you can't walk as much as your effortless pushers or being dragged like a slave?
Who said kids on leashes are dragged like slaves? What if it serves as a link between the parent and the child so that he/she doesn't wander too far from them, or is snatched away by a creep?

I hate children and I hate parents even more.
In fact I hate everything... I even hate hating things.
Do you need a hug?

Any parent that needs to use a leash to control their kid needs to seriously work on being a better fuckin' parent.

More background information is needed. I hate when people see one bad parenting choice and think "Wow, what a horrible person, they deserve to die." All parents make some mistakes, there are no exceptions to this. But honestly, that kid needs to learn to behave. He just throws a tantrum in the middle of a store, goes limp and refuses to move. That brat needs to learn somehow.

Also I'm pretty sure the harness was attached to the kid's backpack, not his neck (hence why they call it a backpack leash).

It was a backpack leash after all, maybe the kid is a constant pain in the butt. I looks bad but it's not very different from draggin a kid by de hand (I would think using the leash is less pron to cause injure). It is also possible that the mom is an abusive mom. Charging her with Felony just for this is over the top, maybe they took her to trial and found out that she abused the kid in other ways then she deserved it.

Since the child doesn't appear to be fighting back or throwing a tantrum, I say it's wrong.
Wouldn't the fact that it's not fighting back or trying to get away probably mean that it isn't in pain?
That, or it's dead.

Chances are they don't the parenting skills to treat their kids as anything but pets.
Why be offencive? My mother was great. Just my older brother used to run off a lot and get lost, because he didn't know better. She leashed him (not around the neck) to keep him close. I had the same treatment because she didn't want to lose me either.

@topic: many ways she could have dealt with the tantrum. Dragging across a floor by the neck? Can't say I agree with it.

Well, obviously the kids wasn't dead, there was an investigation, and the kid was found very much alive.
I was speaking more in general terms.

That's ridiculous, I never understood the thought process behind putting your kids on leashes. Are you that bad of a parent that you have to treat them like a animal?

It's usually the sign of horrible parenting, but then again I think 50% of parents suck a their jobs of raising their kids.

Well if the kids having a strop or a sulk or whatever and it won't budge, drag the little bastard make sure they don't do it again. But if the kid was just asleep or something than that is cruel. But harnesses I am for, if your kid is a wanderer and relucntant to hold your hand going round a public area then, you don't want them out of your sight or control, who knows what would happen to them, I mean in Liverpool 1993, that was horrible what them little bastards did to that little lad, I won't say anything or names or those sort of things because I'll probably get flamed or suspended or soemthing like that. Anyway back on topic, couldn't she have just picked up the child?

Wait, what happened in Liverpool in 1993? This has peaked my curiosity.
Look it up, I don't really want to talk about it because what I heard they had done it is sickening and makes you want to vomit if you hate hearing about a death of a child. I regret saying it, I probably put it mentioned it because I'm a dozy twonk, anyway it makes you wish that the same could happen to the culprits only 10 times worse and don't let them die so they can truly feel the guilt and pain they have caused to the victims relatives the little bastards, then again I don't know how that pain feels, which really makes you feel alot more happy in life, but it makes you sad that awful things like that can happen in this world of ours.

The kid looked kind of...dead to me. If you can't slap a kid nowadays you sure as Hell shouldn't be allowed to do this. Haul her crazy ass off to the jailhouse.

I didn't think it was that bad but then i realized he was being dragged around by his neck.

You should never put a leash on a kids neck, nevermind dragging him around by his neck. I'd probably do the same thing playfully but the leash would be around his wrist or waist, not that i ever plan on using one.

That's what I'm inclined to believe. People, especially children, have high rates of compliance when under physical distress. I mean, that's sorta why people use it for torture.

Kid looks like he's just being stubborn, I know I pulled the "dead weight" move on my parents before.

Well that looks terrible. The kid didn't even seem to be throwing a tantrum, so for once, I condemn this kind of behaviour. Jail it should be. Actually saying that, I agree with a post further up, was the kid conscious?

But gratz on doing something about it. America, please, let the BP scandal drop, let the Lockerbie bomber scandal drop, and PLEASE bring your judicial system to the UK. Over here she wouldn't have even gone to court.

Well, I hate children so I think it's fine. That said, if I were that child I'd be plotting arson or something equally destructive so it probably actually counts as terrible.
