And that makes day 4!

I'm praising this community for its intelligence and cooperative spirit. We gonna beat the TheEscapist Staff, aren't we, lads?

Day 5, ho!
Okay... probably shouldn't taunt them like that. It's not difficult (at all) to make impossible puzzles.
Have some faith!

And yeah, I know I shouldn't be doing this, but I was so satisfied with solving these puzzles, and there's nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishments, right?

I'll be eating my words tomorrow, though. I just know it. I'm actually pretty terrified of what will come. Seeing as I've come this far, and that I've got an exam on saturday, day 5 isn't going to encourage much reading...

With the right hints, day 4 was quite easy... yet another piece of paper with seemingly random letters and coordinates scrawled on it.

Thanks for the help!

You're not even close to the correct location.

Haha, I managed to get 4-1! I think I'll leave 4-2 for tomorrow now, it's almost 6am after all :p. I need to get some sleep, Christmas shopping now...

For those who are completely stuck...
A cipher is the key, but in multiple layers. Try looking at the earliest uses of ciphers to find the one you need. Military strategy will help you find the right cipher...

To the people at The Escapist, kudos for trying, but next time try something more difficult, then maybe your layers of codes won't get cracked so easily :p.
You make it sound like a Caesar's Square cipher may be necessary?
Well, I didn't want to give it away so easily, but yes, you're right...
Funny thing is that I still have no idea what to do with it all since there's actually a Ceasar's Square code and a Caesar's cipher which are two completely separate things. Oh well, I'll figure something.
I was talking about the

shift cipher, which is probably the most simple cipher known to man...

I meant
what is the shape in Angola supposed to be? Everything else is a letter or number.

This has gone from being hard to enraging...especially when everyone else seems to be talking about something that makes no frigging sense to me.

Edit: and don't get me started on 4-1

There are 2 different Matalas in Angola - go for the southern one, not the northern one (near Bicuar National Park)

Any clues would be appreciated...
Well, if you can't get it, then I'll have to follow you obsessively day and night until you get it right!

Right, did 4-2. Wasn't easy, but I got there. 4-1 is another story completely, I have no idea what people are talking about, its just ridiculous...

What gives with 4-2? I think I have the final location correct (I had a meltdown getting there), but now I can't track down the associated game title. Google makes it seem pretty obvious, but when I enter it, I'm wrong.

Am I missing something?

EDIT: NVM, I got it. Silly of me to try to enter the full title of the game as it appears...

Well I got the answer to 4-2 based off a reference to it that someone made a few pages back. Wonderful, but I have no idea what I was even supposed to do to this stupid map. /disgusted.

Edit: oooh...I get it now. Good lord.

Good lord, 4-2 was a lucky guess on my part. And thank god for the hints about something of a certain Roman man. This was a tough day... Kinda afraid about what Day 5 will hold...

Dunno what I'm supposed to do with the Contra code for 4-1, but I have the blue and the green letters. Anyone fancy helping a brother out?

You just type it, but it's better to have your keyboard focus out of any textbox, or autocompletion and other browser stuff may get in the way.

Can someone tell me how to at least start 4-1? I don't get what I am supposed to do with that.

Ha, I stared at those for about 15 minutes last night blankly then after a little sleep my brain seemed much more ready to work this morning and those weren't too bad.

Well done for the day, I actually seem to stand a chance at cryptography and leaps of logic over damn dirty word puzzles. So with that said I am assuming it will be a word puzzle tomorrow just to spit on me.

Thanks for all the hard work that obviously went into these escapist.
