You do, of course, realize that ever since it began Gamergate was not one definite thing, right? Is it about integrity in games journalism? Is it about sexism? Zoe Quinn's sex life? Her developer skills or lack thereof? Nobody knows what it's all about because it's not about something in particular, that's why people hate it.[/quote]RealRT said:You are aware that gamergate has done more for different charities then the ones denouncing them right? So all thats left to do is making the actual game, cause you know.. the actuall donation part has allready happened... not least to mention actually getting a game made (afterlife empire i think was the name?)
Youare aware that movements can evolve over time? That it was allways the people outside of gamergate who claimed what gamergate was about? And that people "hate" gamergate because its a symption of how brain deadly idiotic todays political correctness has become that a movement like gamergate even took off in the first place?
Gamergate never claimed it was just about "this one thing"... heck even the meme "actually its about ethics in gamejournalism" was coined by someone who oposed gamergate.
The only people that outright "hate" gamergate are the uninformed and people that think sexism and mysoginy and rape culture are actually a thing (thought after the events in europe at new years eve there actually might be a rape culture.. but certainly not the one the social regressive preach about everyday)
The rest is simply annoyed and wish for both the proponents AND the opposition to go play on a highway during rush hour...
Hatred was simply a shitty game... and cought flak for it from everyone who played it pretty much saying it is boring, its controls are shitty and it is hilariously cringeworthy, loosing any attempt at a statement or message by how badly the dialogue was written.erttheking said:I missed the part where someone actually died who was related to the Hatred died and people were making it personal by going after that.Sarge034 said:Where was this widespread and fervent defense when Hatred was being lambasted I wonder?
Hatred was 2edgy4u and trying to gather attention for the sake of stirring up controversy. This was about people making a game about the death of their son. Forgive me if I don't find the two situations very comparable.
And rightly so. It was a bad game. Did that mean that the censorship attempts where the right thing to do? Nope... does that mean people where wrong defending the games existance? Nope.
So yeah.. agreeing with you somewhat cazse i dont really see where hatred even comes into this debate either. It was defended from censorship, rightly so.. and then torn to shreds for being a shitty game... just as it should be.
Games should be judged on their own merits, not about stuff that happens outside the game.
