This makes me think of an episode of The Simpsons where Homer and Marge watch The Erotic Adventures of Hercules.

"Hercules, the cyclops torn off my dress!"

It's like a stripper yelling at everyone not to look. Slowly revealing more of a female's clothing is erotically orientated. This is so stupid, it's like pleading to Bayonetta players that the loss of clothing is a result of the demanding will needed to summon demons from hell. It's not an accurate representation of battle damage. When a person's head explodes do all their clothes fly off? They could have just not included this feature.

Please refer to Batman: Arkham Asylum for information on how to represent battle scars and clothing damage accurately.

Sadly, in these situations when someone points out these things and then says "But we didn't mean that, honest!", the rest of us tend to believe that the opposite is true. At least, in my own personal experience.

Blood is kind of an anti-boner so far as I'm concerned.
...But blood causes the boner in the first place!

I'm sure it wasn't intentionally, just like it's not in all the other Squaenix games you know like Tifa's "funbags", or Sazh's cheeky luck at Vanille booty...No not at all...

As someone pointed out before, they did this to a guy in Sands of Time and nobody complained. Didn't offend me then. Won't offend me now.

Ah. PSP only. Well then. I guess it won't affect me either way. I have to stick to platforms for people with big hands and bad eyes.

People have been pushing the "clothes get tattered through combat" for ages and it goes for both men and women. The hypocricy that when it happens to Arnie, it's fine, but when it happens to Angelina, it's wrong, disgusting, using women and all the following bullshit.

I've seen RL fights that end up in tattered clothes, so the realism is perfectly fine and makes sense. Whether the erotic element is counted on or not is irrelevant, this discussion wouldn't be here if the character in question was male.

They didn't claim it was realistic in the sands of time. The Prince's pathalogical hatred of rips, tears and minor cosmetic flaws in his clothing was hilarious in a low-budget-porno kind of way.

"Oh dear, my shirt is frayed"

*rrrrrriiiiipppp*

I guess it's realistic. So I guess the new test for realism is "TITS OR UNREALISTIC!"
Or Unrealistit.

Also did you know that they are adding a system to make bandages by tearing off parts of her clothes. But it's to healy your character, not to be erotic. We clear on that? NOT FOR SEXUAL REASONS!

If, for a crazy moment, we accept that battle dress really did get torn up so much in war, how do the devs explain how it gets ripped up in an increasingly provocative way and yet the parts covering strictly M-rated details are mysteriously impervious?

I wish devs would be more honest. "Sure, we thought, lets make her hot, sex sells and to be honest the male component of our art department will be more motivated."

Not that I agree with that sentiment, I'm just saying...ahem. Honesty is important.

In related news, when she tears off her clothing, that low sultry moan she makes is a sad moan, intended to be a comment on the futility of war. If you think it's a sexy moan then you're just not very into the spirit of the thing, are you?
