Great another spiderman movie, can`t wait to see it and i hope it`s going to be as good as the first with the new actor. To me it`s a good choice that they seem to be sticking with the ultimate versions. The old Electro would look damn ridiculous with his silly twinkle star facemask.
Keep the hate flowing with the new spiderman - don`t care about Bob`s funny opinions the Raimi movies are shit to me with the exception of the second (watchable). Tobey M. was the worst Peter Parker thanks to Raimis cringeworthy dialogues and the wtf organic webshooters.

Oh, and the electro suit tehy're going for reminds me too much of Dr. Manhattan (and the avatar state, but mostly Dr. Manhattan).
Makes me think of Freeze from Batman and Robin.

Not so ice, I know, but I can't help it.

As for Moviebob, he just whined constantly about things that were nitpicky at best while harping on the movie every chance he got pretty much every video afterward for 2 YEARS STRAIGHT.
It's...Uhhh...It's Moviebob. It's kind of what he does.

I honestly don't get the hate for ASM, but Bob's response to it is ultimately unsurprising.

I didnt even realize that was the Rhino in the trailer to be honest. I get hes supposed to be a different Rhino who took a suit from the military but even still, not raising my hopes up for this movie.
Like Electro, he appears to be patterened after the Ultimate version. Ultimate Rhino is a dude who stole power armour from the military, Dubbed R.H.I.N.O. Which sounds pretty lame and certainly shouldn't get your hopes up.

I just hope we don't see Ultimate Green Goblin at any point.

This'll probably be the first super-hero movie I wont see. Thank GOD I didnt waste money on the previous at the cinema. I watched it after it was released and it felt like Spiderman in twilight mode. AWFUL movie. This movie should probably die in a fire.

God electro looks awful.

Badly acted, awful CGI/makeup. Yeah, not looking forward to that.

Kind of interested in watching it just because of Paul Giamatti though. The fact that he seems like kind of a bizarre choice for Rhino might actually make the character really good, especially if they really let him chew the scenery. On the other hand it might end up like Venom from Spiderman 3, horribly miscast.

There are some good things in this trailer though. The color pallet for the movie looks vibrant, and the whole movie looks pretty sharp. Keeps it from looking dull and lifeless like Man of Steel did. They also seem to have changed the costume and it looks significantly better.

Dumb opening monologue is dumb.

I hate just how serious this version of Spiderman is trying to be. It doesn't mesh with the incredible cheesiness of the story and special effects. Is it too late to replace Andrew Garfield with someone else? Maybe just replace the whole cast while we're at it. In fact, why don't we just reboot the franchise again? I think this recent attempt was a bit of a dud.

Let's see

Batman & Robin - 3 villains and a sidekick added in, killed its series.
Blade 3 - Abrupt team introduced alongside new villain, killed its series.
Spiderman 3 - 3 villains (and Gwen Stacy added, as half-done as that was), more or less killed its series.
Dark Knight Rises - 2 new villain characters, 2 new sidekick characters. It may have been the finale anyways, but the cluttered screentime was definately one of its problems.

I'd even throw in Daredevil, which would've been better off sans Electra, and possibly focusing on either Bullseye or Kingpin instead of them both just kind of being there as the predefined villains.

Its like they can't seem to figure out that you can't jam that many new characters in all at once. You either have terrible flat villains, or you kill any point of sequelizing by blowing all your development time on the villains, and chucking your hero out of the film for most of it (The latter being Batman's thing most of the time).

I found Moviebob's response to ASM VERY surprising. I've seen plenty of his videos and this is the first time I've ever seen him so incredibly unprofessional about something he hated. Most of the things he doesn't like he harps on for a video or 2, with ASM there wasn't a single video for a long time that was even slightly related that he didn't take some time out of to whine about ASM some more.

I love how I could anticipate the reaction this would get on The Escapist. I mean, I love this site, but Jeeesus. Go anywhere else and everyone is just happy about a nice, entertaining super-hero movie, but here? Nothing but negative comments and extreme criticizing.

I, for one, am actually excited for this, it looks like it will be an entertaining film. And I hope the rest of you will like it too. Peace out.
agreed; (well, i'm not EXCITED about this, but indifferent.) the amount of backlash and high standards in here is astounding, i get that marvel's made some good superhero movies recently, but jesus, not every single movie is gonna be a home run, and in terms of transferring comics to the big screen, it's really not that bad. (if you think comics have high quality of writing, then i'm not sure what we are reading, because it's not the same material.)

OT: the trailer had alot going on in it, i might not see it unless i can get in cheap somewhere, but overall they've got alot to work with in it. the first movie was alright but i think i preferred the toby mcguire version of spiderman.

Personally, I'm more surprised we're not seeing digs at the Lone Ranger still.

One thing I've noticed on this website is that so many here seem to expect a lot more out of superhero movies than they're likely to get. In order to get anything resembling praise around here, a superhero movie has to blow every superhero movie that came before it (at least in the same series) out of the water or the people around here will crucify it. Every movie isn't going to be the next Avengers or The Dark Knight, and people around here shouldn't expect them to be.

I'm somebody who's probably at least liked if not enthusiastically enjoyed just about every superhero movie that's come out (hell, I don't watch many other movies much these days) since the first Raimi Spider-Man, including the more reviled ones like Green Lantern, and it probably has something to do with the fact that I have a pretty good idea of what I'm walking into when I go see superhero movies, (mostly a mindless action movie) and that I long since learned that you can't enjoy fiction if you're just looking for nitpicky crap to complain about the entire time. Let's face it, Superheros, their villains, their plotlines, etc. a lot of it is pretty ridiculous and nonsensical, if you obsess over every time a plothole happens, or somebody says something cheesy, or whatever you aren't going to have any fun. I mean, there are people here whining over what Electro looks like, as if it actually mattered.

"Oh no, they replaced the ridiculous green and yellow outfit for a ridiculous blue glowing skin! How dare they!"
Same thing for Rhino. We get Spider-man vs giant Rhino robot in a movie, but since it doesn't look like in the comics it 'sucks'.
A lot of people would have no problem if this idea (of again, Spider-man vs Giant Rhino Robot) came from a Marvel Studios/Disney Movie.

I don't care that they replaced Electro's outfit, I care that the blue glowing electro that they made just looks positively terrible. People are comparing him to Dr. Manhattan, but I think Dr. Manhattan looks much better than this new Electro. I really hope that this is just due to unfinished CGI, but it really looks lazy and atrocious if it isn't. Then again, this is the same team behind The Lizard, so I'm not exactly confident in their aesthetic sensibilities.

Mecha Rhino looks cool though, I don't care what anyone says. I always thought that the animal/human crossbreed rhino looked exceedingly silly.

Fair enough, I'm not exactly in love with how electro looks, but for me it fits with the way he fight (the whole teleporting in lighting and all). It feels better when in the middle of the action.
I will say that I'm not excited for the Green Goblin design they got there, something like Iron Man meets Peter Pan, but the actor playing him is really good as maniac bad guy, so I'll wait and see.
Hope it doesn't come out like that Venom from 3.

Yeah, I realized that after i saw people calling him rhino and a friend saying if I saw rhino. I get that they want to distance themselves and go a different route, but yeah... I'm not impressed really.

Granted, I haven't seen much of the costume, but it's not helped by the fact that even the comic book r.h.i.n.o appears to look cooler than this guy.

Yahtzee dislikes Joss Wheedon. Every time one of his products comes up, a bunch of his followers seem to want to tear into it.

I'm pretty sure I've not only seen attacks on his "smug" dialogue[footnote]I think he could do a two hour silent film with no captions, sign language, or even particularly language at all and Yahtzee would still say it. By extension, so would his dollowing[/footnote], but also the pacing, plot, and even some of the characters on here.

If Yahtzee doesn't like someone, you can be certain that people on here will outright HAAAAAAATE them starting the day after Ben's video/column shows up.

I've long had the theory that Ben says some of the things he does specifically to see who'll follow along, and I still think "Spunkgargleweewee" is one of them. So yeah. The Yahtzee Effect. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

I see this happen sometimes with moviebob "fanbase", actually, some people even keep repeating his exact same lines in some topics.
Not sure if he is as self-aware as Yahtzee though. Then again, I'm not sure if he is as "popular" as Yahtzee outside of this site.
