Read Forza 5 is a launch title. Awesome news. Its about time a console was released with aproper exclusive title on launch. This is what WiiU should have done, but they never do.

Xbox One? What?

Have to hand it to Microsoft. They proved us wrong with a worse name than Infinity.

It is a smart thing for Microsoft to do in some respects, leaving most of the gaming for E3. This just seems more for their investors.

"Xbox On," you'll say, and the little fella off to the right will do it for you. No more manual login, no more fiddling around. This is the device Microsoft will be calling Xbox One, as revealed today by the folks over at Redmond.

Erm, what? "Xbox On"? Isn't one pronounced as "Won"?

OT:How could they fuck this up? Just call it the friggin "Xbox" ffs.

Well it looks like it was designed by a blind man and the name is pretty stupid. If i do ever decide one of these expensive paper weights I would at least like it to look moderately good this time since looking at it would probably be the most I would use it for. (unless of course they have some cool looking exclusives this gen)

Please Sony, don't mess up on the console reveal. Microsoft's console is a box with a box behind it and is solid black: Give the PS4 some style and you'll win this one.

So...

Any word on whether or not it'll play games? I mean Skype's cool and all but...

You know...

Shouldn't there be some game-related information for a reveal of a games-console?
It isn't a video game console any more... just let go. It's alright, everything will be OK. Shhhh...

OT: This is just the final nail in Microsoft's coffin as far as I'm concerned. I don't want a multimedia box, I want a god damned video game console.

Ordinarily I can ignore all the other content they stick inside it, I honestly have with the 360, but since they've made zero mention of its main function, the ability to actually play games... well that's done it for me. I'm sticking with Sony for this round of consoles.

Xbox One? What?

At the moment that's looking like the far superior console. I loved my original Xbox so much.

That is one ugly piece of hardware.

Not sexy at all, and neither is the name.

I feel both disinterested and underwhelmed by this announcement so far. The look of the Xbox One is ok but reminds me of my old VCR. As for the announcement of titles, the majority of them are sports titles and a FPS.

Unless Xbox offers something more that will tickle my fancy in the near future, this is the best response I've got for the Xbox One and its future games (which happens to be my avatar)...

I think Microsoft forgot how to count.
Seriously not a name I expected, nor want now. And it looks like what everyone else is say, a friggin VCR from the 80's, and bad looking one at that to be honest.

Welp I guess I'll pick one up in about... ..four years time?

You know, once it hits £40 and I know for certain I'm not getting PC or PS3/4 ports of the games I want.

Who'd've thought that "Playstation 4" would end up far and away the best name of this console generation.

Thank goodness, a device that can finally allow me to watch ESPN, or chat with my friends on Skype. If only some sort of popular box like devices had been previously created that could allow us to do these things, those guys would have made a fortune, I mean, there'd pretty much literally be one in every house, making a secondary device that does exactly the same thing completely irrelevant for that purpose.

Sarcasm AWAY!

Remember when the advantage of a games console was having all it's RAM and processing power devoted solely to games? What happened to that idea?

Wow, typical Escapist, judge something on the name, and not what it can do.

Did anyone see COD: Ghosts? OMFG! And this is coming from someone who has still has a bad taste after MW3.

It can obviously play games, they are just highlighting the fact it can do other things, what else can they say other than "it plays games better than the 360" -.- Face it, it's a multimedia entertainment system, you don't HAVE to watch anything if you don't want to, I'll probably download Netflix and leave it at that.

And at least they quelled the "Always Connected" Rumours, although going by nearly every response here, i doubt anyone was paying attention.

Who on earth thought having a "console" that can flick from a playing game to TV to music with just a word was a good selling point? Really? Who the fek wants to be in the middle of a tense expirance in a game for someone to come into the room and call for the TV coz their show just started? This is not the a games console, this is a pointless middle man between a top setbox and tv. In one year it will look very old indeed compared to smart tv's. I've been with Xbox since the brick came out over ten years ago. I've owned 5 xboxes over that period. This will not be added to that collection. I am not impressed with Microsoft. Not that they would care. Still the memories were good.

Compared to the PS4 presentation, this feels... anemic. I'm not talking about the actual conference, I have no idea what went on during it. I'm talking about the Escapist coverage. There is one article about it... where as the PS4 had a live feed link and practically EVERY SINGLE BULLET POINT A POST. Either people have missed this conference, or the hype really isn't there for this console... I admit I'm a Sony guy, and only looked this up since it was there. I have to say people who were complaining that they haven't seen the PS4 or about the teasers... great to know when we do see a new console. Looks like, as everyone points out "a VCR". and the name? I would have called the original Xbox the "Xbox One". This is the literal example of one step forward and two steps back. What next? are we going to call the next one the Xbox 5? What happened to 4? we'll cover that in the generation after.
