I have no idea if these bands are big or not, but hey:

The Cat Empire
Dropkick Murphys
Celldweller
Dropkick Murphy's are known worldwide, being on The Departed soundtrack pushed "Shipping out to Boston" into the mainstream. They played it at the Winter Classic last year, played in Boston.

OT:

Young Heart Attacks - Small band out of Texas, not sure if they are still together. Great old school rock. I managed to catch them playing at the Barfly in Cambridge just before it closed down. There was about 30 people all together hell of a gig. http://www.myspace.com/youngheartattack

The Fall of Science - Small band out of Beccles, some great tracks. www.myspace.com/thefallofscience

Huh. I know about an obscure live-action video game from the 90's with the same name.

Interesting coincidence is interesting

By the way, how do I spoiler something without it saying spoiler?
Great!
whythankyougudsir! That was so nice I had to thank you in a 1 word sentence.

NightWish, Gob, Gamma Ray, HammerFall,Edguy, Modest Mouse (two years ago), and maybe Freezepop.
i've heard of every one of those but freezepop and gob. gamma ray is from the 90's, same with hammer fall and edguy. plus, all these bands are pretty mainstream.

no here's some bands waiting to get disovered

Axel Rudi Pell. they've been around for a while, but i feel like i'm the only one who knows them.

As Blood Runs Black, a deathcore band from LA, is pretty good. They have only put out one album and that was in 2006, but I see great potential for them. They're gonna be huge one of these days.

Wow, really guys? No one's mentioned Van der Graaf Generator?

They were the best band in the 70s

and they're the best band now

Has anyone here heard of them?

I'm always surprised how few people know about Faith No More, such a good band.

Indeed. It's amazing how diverse he is. That's probably why I love him so much.

It's hard to believe that the same person who did the album "Ki" also did "City"

My two favorite metal albums would be Ziltoid the Omniscient and Accelerated Evolution, but I love all of them.
