You made no distinction, remember people from all around the world are here, so put something like:Cuniculus said:No, I think you hid your disdain rather well really. Sorry for the confusion. Though I do have to ask... people obviously know what I'm talking about, otherwise you wouldn't have put CHIPS and CRISPS in all caps... you wouldn't have even given the two separate answers if you had no idea what I was talking about. You'd have just answered... so my question is, if you know what I am talking about, why give the hard time?Spirultima said:Well to me best CRISPS are Sea Salt and Balsamic Vinegar co-op crisps.
But best CHIPS i've ever had is from a fish and chip shop near the bus station.
English person here if you didn't figure that out already.
You're crazy. Next thing you know, you'll be telling us that football is soccer...RAKtheUndead said:*massive picture cut*

That chip would have been wrong to anyone who read the OP though, as I did say "potato chip". I still see how the french fries and potato chips could kind of be mixed up, but anyone would listed a computer chip is just stupid.RAKtheUndead said:Cuniculus said:Sorry, I am afflicted with a terrible ailment... it's called being American.RAKtheUndead said:I think you mean crisps.

This is a plate of chips.
Sadly everything you know is called something different in my land. Those are actually called French Fries... or, after a little spat, FREEDOM Fries. Sorry for the confusion though.![]()
This sort of device is also called a chip. Therefore, you could have created extra confusion in that circumstance.
But I've been to America, so it isn't like I'm completely ignorant of the differences between the British and American dialects. I do treat the colonial expressions with disdain, though.
I believe listing both the Lay's BBQ and Salt and Vinegar chips stated quite well what I meant, as those are both well known examples of "crisps".McCa said:You made no distinction, remember people from all around the world are here, so put something like:Cuniculus said:No, I think you hid your disdain rather well really. For the non-Americans we mean crisps.
