It's obvious how this thread came to mind, which is me sitting around eating a bag of Lay's BBQ Potato Chips. I began to wonder, what chip is the best chip?

People all have favorites, and it eventually comes down to personal taste, but I want to know yours. What is your favorite chip? Potato or otherwise? How do you base it? Taste? Crispiness? Availability? Reliability?

Mine happens to be Lay's Salt and Vinegar. I love the taste, and they remind me of being a kid again... because it was the first chip I declared to be my favorite back then. Also, you have to love any snack that is physically BAD for you. I mean, I know that chocolate is bad for you, but chocolate won't burn the flesh off of your tongue if you eat too many of them.

EDIT: Having been reminded that we here at the Escapist are a multicultural bunch, I would like to clarify that I am talking about "Crisps" when I say chips. I respect the difference, but I do happen to like the word Crisps better. I was just brought up to call them potato chips.

Given a choice of all of the chips in the world, I would have to choose...

My favourite are McCoys salt and vinegar crisps.

Large, crinkle cut and incredibly flavourful.
What's not to like?

Oh, Pringles are teh yum, but I have to go with Utz barbeque kettle cooked chips as my favorite. I literally have to have the bag taken away from me to stop eating them. So...tasty...

Doritos with dip, or stupidly cheesy nachos.
Do they count as crisps?

If not fish and chips. :)

I think you mean crisps.

This is a plate of chips.
Sorry, I am afflicted with a terrible ailment... it's called being American.

Sadly everything you know is called something different in my land. Those are actually called French Fries... or, after a little spat, FREEDOM Fries. Sorry for the confusion though.

Chips or crisps... hehe. Anyways I'm rather fond of Original flavor Pringles. I usually go by taste, crispiness, and texture. Though I often end up with a "raw" tongue. DX You know that feeling you get when you've eaten too much of something that's rough or slightly abrasive as chips/crisps tend to be.

But seriously, you can't have just one Lays.

This is a rather spammy thread though, isn't it?

Well to me best CRISPS are Sea Salt and Balsamic Vinegar co-op crisps.

But best CHIPS i've ever had is from a fish and chip shop near the bus station.

English person here if you didn't figure that out already.

Kettle Chips are amazing.
Are they the ones that are handcooked?, I never understood that, how do you cook with your hands?, like rub the potatoes really really fast?

Don't get me started on handblown glass.

No, I think you hid your disdain rather well really. Sorry for the confusion. Though I do have to ask... people obviously know what I'm talking about, otherwise you wouldn't have put CHIPS and CRISPS in all caps... you wouldn't have even given the two separate answers if you had no idea what I was talking about. You'd have just answered... so my question is, if you know what I am talking about, why give the hard time?
