Bioshock - from minor niggles to major.
The HUD for example, always seems to be rendered in 800 x 600 (like when an objective pops up). Minor, but it's persistent and it looks unpolished.
Then there's a problem with the gameplay loop; because you can't die, you basically spend the game charging at something when all you have is a couple of bullets and a plasmid shot, then rinse and repeat.
The game is nowhere near as deep as it pretends to be either. The choice of killing the sisters is incredibly shallow; sure I felt bad and so I never killed them, but if you kill 2 out of the X amount in the game you're a hideous monster.
That brings me on to the ending, where the game just fizzles out. That itself is a problem with the one-trick story, where you spend the entire game building up to about 5 minutes and then the next couple of hours not really doing anything. The one-trick story is related to the rubbish pacing, and part of the problem with the pacing is caused by the crappy gameplay loop.
Oh, and related to that gameplay loop are the "collect" missions that turn up and last for like an hour when you need to get through a door.
I get that people love it and I'd never say it was a bad game, it just didn't work for me at all.
