I know I'm gonna get my head bitten off for this one, but I thought in the realm of zombie parody, Zombieland was much more to my tastes than Shaun of the Dead. Don't get me wrong, SotD was frickin' kick ass, but they did some things that put me in the awkward chair too often.

One was that they had at least three "touching" moments that were completely opposite to what the film was trying to accomplish. It's like reading a web comic that is known for it's slap-stick and wackiness, and then, one week, the throw in a comic where the main character's friend dies of aids or something. It's awkward and you feel bad about yourself which is exactly not what I wanted to feel while reading it. Zombieland did have a "touching" moment, but it was short and immediately ended with an appropriate joke so everyone is feeling just fine.

It kept things funny. All fun all the time. Pretty much any way you could have fun in a zombie apocalypse and no touching moments, serious tension, explanations of what's happening, or anything else to break up the fun. That's why I loved Zombieland.
I agree, although i only thought Shaun of the dead was a 'good' film.

Zombieland was prolly my favourite - which i didn't expect going into the cinema!

Shaun of the dead

Some movies like 28 weeks later and the newest Dawn of the Dead 2004 are both horrible in my eyes. >.> It all boils down to retarded moment that forces the group to die.

Something which could easily be prevented if they actually gave a damn about their life.

I just can't stand it when I watch a movie that tries to be horror and they know something is wrong. Then they hear this sound, weird sound that they never heard before.

WHAT do they do?
Check it out.
What? Who wouldn't check out a weird sound in a zombie/alien/inter-dimension post apocalyptic world?

This is what I hate with most of those movies that I see. You want to scream "NO, DO NOT GO IN THERE"

The Mist comes to mind with "What's that noise?" in a place full with spider web. Even though they made it clear that they should only grab what they needed and then run.

Even Resident Evil movies did it better. >.> Yes I said it and I mean it too.

Shaun Of The Dead was good but my vote has to go to Dead And Breakfast. It holds the record for most blood used in 1 scene and at one point the zombies do the thriller dance.
wait... it has more blood than the brain dead lawnmower scene? I have the dead and breakfast DVD but i dont remember it too well. only watched it once and i thought it was ok. might have to give that another shot.

Redneck Zombies.
it's got like 3/10 on imdb, it's a shit film, don't get me wrong, but there is something so overpoweringly evil about the atmosphere.
Watched it a couple of weeks ago at my friends house after a smoke and a couple of nice bottles of cider and it sent me on a journey inside my own mind.

Me and my roommate are arguing about which is the best Zombie movie ever made, and we listed a lot of candidates.
So I adress this to all you escapists out there: Which is the best Zombie movie ever made, worthy enough to buy it from our local video store?
REMEMBER: THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

Zombieland is a strong contender>Shaun of the dead is another.o's 28 days later.

WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE!!!!!!!

The scene that had the guy with the chainsaw stuck in his neck got it that title.

Definitely have to say Zombieland. I don't remember Shaun of the Dead all that much, so until I watch it again, my choice is final!

Thriller.
HAHA YES!!!! I agree

But nah I never really like zombie movies, I prefer zombies to be in a video game where I can kill them in my own gruesome ways that they dare not show on films.

As funny and good a movie as Shaun was, I do have to say Zombieland. Not just because it was more consistent with its tone either; I honestly felt like Zombieland had a lot more style. It did everything it wanted to, and blew my mind while doing it. That, my friends, is a good zombie movie.

Personally, while Day of the Dead (the original) is my favorite, I would say that Dawn of the Dead (1978) is the best. It has subtle social commentary, good characters, and a fun premise. It's a true classic and easily George Romero's best film.
