Personally, now that that Daredevil and Punisher are back in marvel's hands I would love to see an avengers style movie with their street level characters. Get a Heroes for Hire movie and a DareDevil flick going, then go into movie with Punisher coming in since he has been introduced more times then I can count. Heroes for hire could have Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Colleen Wing and Misty Knight to get you the who diversity thing, Daredevil could set up Kingpin and Hell I would kill to see either Tom Jane or Ray Stevenson back as Castle.
Wait. Are you serious? I knew about Daredevil, but not Punisher!
If they do bring in Luke Cage or some grittyer characters they could start off some stuff with these guys.
That is the only problem when you have characters like Daredevil, or the Punisher. I think that the movies that have been released so far are a bit lighter. That is understandable, since you do not want to remove a part of an audience, and an R rating does restrict some of the audience. When you want to bring in characters that do have a bit of a darker tone to them, like Daredevil or Punisher, you do encounter some issue since you want them in your universe, but you neither want to compromise their stories by lightening them nor taint your already established universe. Still, there is an audience, and if they can some how segue from TV into possibly a darker set of movies I think that will satisfy the need for them, without worrying about losing an audience of kids.
On the topic of who I feel should play the Punisher, I think Thomas Jane should come back. Still to this day I hear his voice when reading any Punisher comic. I just hope they can get into stories like when Garth Enis had the Punisher, or stories like when Frank Miller had Daredevil.

Yeah, Luke Cage does seem the most likely possibility to me, everything else aside, he's actually been known to do his heroics in casualwear, so having him show up without a costume makes a certain amount of sense.

The guy doesn't really seem like he'd be Luke Cage. In my mind I envisioned Luke Cage to act like Black Dynamite if only because of his exploitation roots.

It'd be interesting if it was one of the Bradleys or Miles Morales, especially the latter as it would let them have Spider-man while steering almost clear of Amazing Spider-man.

My first thought when I saw the trailer was also Luke Cage, and a Jessica Jones/Alias (comic, not tv show) vibe from the woman he's talking to. And while I'd like to think that I also don't think it will be. I'd expect them to want the show to stand on its own merits and having superhero cameo of the week kind of works against that. I'd also think that Joss and company would want to be able to do things with the characters on the show that they might otherwise not be allowed to do with a known character. Especially if Disney/Marvel is thinking about making a movie with the character.

... B)It takes away the one legitimate "accomplishment" Loki's had in his cinematic existence, and that's really sad considering one of the most iconic villains of comics has so far turned out to be surprisingly terrible at his job
I've also read a theory that it was a Life Model Decoy instead of the actual Coulson. LMDs were mentioned by Stark during his first meeting with Coulson in the Avengers movie. Personally, I like to think that Loki was doing it intentionally in order to get out of being controlled by Thanos.

I'm really hoping it's NOT Luke Cage in this TV show. The actor featured is too small to be the hulking hero for hire from Harlem.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Cage featured, but would much rather it be in a feature film. Also, I would like to see him played by a certain other actor...http://blip.tv/the-blockbuster-buster/casting-the-marvel-heroes-6113120

Cage would be amazing but like it's been said, he will probably have his own movie

I am honestly just hoping he is a new updated version of the Punisher. Although he has none of the Punishers abilities, looks nothing like him and is not the Punisher, I really want Frank Castle in the marvel cinematic universe D:

Ditto on the "dead" Coulson being a Life Model Decoy. That very idea occurred to me when I first saw Avengers. This IS SHIELD we're talking about and Nick Fury's always been one slick motherf***** :)

OT: Luke Cage was my first thought, too. But Luke's always been portrayed as a grown man in his early to mid 30's (with the exception of an abysmal streak where they portrayed him like he was in his early/late twenties and---never mine, that streak sucked and was apparently buried in the canon).

The guy in the trailer looks like he's in his early/mid twenties, which suggests that he could be playing a kid in his late teens (per Hollywood usual). I suspect Rage would be the most likely candidate, then.

OTOH if Joss is talking about "color blindness" in casting and suggesting that the character's name (super hero or civilian) starts out with an "M" then they may be taking a deliberate approach to increasing racial diversity to the overwhelmingly number of 'white' Marvel super heroes extant.

If so that throws the number of options wide open for this show and the coming Marvel movies. I'd ride that approach without rancor.

As a rule I'm not one for introducing diversity to established canons just for the sake of diversity but since the majority of characters were created during a different era that had serious racial issues (far far more and far far worse than today) then it's just bringing the Marvel 'movie world' closer to modern depictions of racial demographics.

I'll probably get flamed for having that POV[footnote]I've stayed out of the FF thread about a black Johnny Storm but I'm aware that it's pretty hot in there.[/footnote], but what the hey. *shrugs* Works for me.

I'm by no means an expert on superhero comics, but this past easter I found an old Spider-Man comic while visiting my parents.
I fell completely in love with Cardiac, a hero-villain who wishes good but uses extreme measures. It's not him, he dresses rather better than this guy, but otherwise he'd fit. Would LOVE for that character to be used for something.

So sad to note the two Punisher movies. One brilliant where a man gets by on sheer determination and being pissed off, exacting the sweetest revenge plot of all time. And a reboot sequel wherein the same guy trades all his above qualities in for a bulletproof vest and enemies with horrible aim.

Maxam? Seriously? How deep did you have to dig for that one for a round top 10? At least Night Thrasher had some clout at one point.

Luke Cage being on this show at some point was a safe bet before the trailer hit. I hope not for central character status. I've nothing against Cage, but he's spent too much of his career in comics as the black sterotype of the day, and if there's one thing most comics fans hope for from this series, it's to see the lessor knowns get screen time. Rage wasn't handled much better as I recall. The Bradleys might need their origin re-worked to avoid pissing people off right out the gate, but have my vote for best option. I've got a thing for heroes that have to live up to a legacy.

Of course, the floor is open if we go color blind. Still, baring someone original, they'd probably still go either someone tied to a current movie Avengers, or someone with some comic notoriety. I don't see them trying to base a series around someone even the comic fans would have to look up, even if the series could feature guests as low as Moon Knight, machine man, and z-listers so obscure no one knows who they are.

There's your next top ten list Bob: top ten comic characters you want to guest shot on SHIELD.

In an interview for IGN Jeffery Bell confirmed [http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/15/executive-producer-jeffrey-bell-talk-agents-of-shield-and-reveals-luke-cage-is-not-the-mystery-character] that it was not Luke Cage, may have possibly slipped that the first letter in the guy's name is "M", and also said some things about colorblind casting.

Honestly, we were looking for this part, and we just said, look, all our parts are open to all diversity. So the fact that we have a black dude who is awesome and it's J, was just because he was the best actor. It wasn?t like, ?You know who?!?
While Marvel reps have flat-out lied in the past, particularly when a mystery is guessed right out of the gate, my money is actually on Moon Knight. No, he's never been portrayed as a black man, but neither was Nick Fury before the Ultimates and neither was Heimdall before "Thor". Also, it would make the hoodie a clever costume choice. Still, it would mean they changed a lot of his backstory and gave him powers right from the beginning, so it might be a bit of a stretch, but I like banking on the long-shot.
Man, I never though of Moon Knight as very TV friendly. All that carving crescents into peoples faces, being as bat-shit crazy as Ant-Man (possibly more), and you know, keeping his arch enemy's skinned face and trying it on now and then...

The Bottom was a great comic book but it would make for absolutely harrowing television.

EDIT: I just remembered the Civil War cameo from Captain America in The Bottom...best part of the book...

I learn something new every single time I watch an episode of The Big Picture. Half of the guys on the list I had never heard of, and I didn't actually know Black Panther's kingdom was a superadvanced society.

Still, of that list, I'm kinda pushing for him being Blade, just because I feel that character is in need of a reboot.

C'mon, we all know the answer is that it's Miles Morales, the black Spider-man, who works day in and out with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury:

Oh! I forgot the oh-so-racial incorrect BLACK GOLIATH!

See once the fact that Cage was thrown out as a theory (though still a heavy bet) all i could think of was Goliath, i mean we're talking avengers here, and a reason to have pym and pym particles through antman introduction. Though really rage is a possible too, or just a "insert new joss superhero/superman analogue" Though I think goliath is the best idea purely because previously stated pym references

What, screwing up intentionally? I really don't think so - the Chitauri(sp?) leader made it clear that if Loki failed Thanos was going to kick his ass. If anything, it's through Loki that they're going to find about Thanos since Loki's is probably marked for death now.

After seeing Black Dynamite I had the exact same thought - Michael Jai White would make a great Luke Cage. Pair him up with someone like Luke Goss (Blade 2, Hellboy 2) and you've got your 'Heroes for hire'.

There have been too many denials coming from the show creators for me to believe that the guy in the trailer is Luke Cage.
Now if this were an Abrams/Lindehof project I'd instantly believe they were lying but I think that 'Rage' is actually the most likely candidate.

If it is Luke Cage I'm just disappointed they didn't hire Old Spike Guy to play him.
Spice and his name is Isaiah Mustafa, and as much as I REALLY want to see him in a Marvel movie, I think the best person to play Luke Cage in a movie is Terry Crews. Unless you are talking about Terry Crews?

Wait are you talking about ,"Hello ladies," Old Spice or ,"16 HOURS OF ODOR BLOCKING POOOWWEEEEEEEEEEEEER," Old Spice?

The Bradley family has a spectacular backstory. I think it's pretty definitely Cage but this isn't a bad second option.
