This movie is actually based on a short story called "The Button", which has exactly the same premise. However:
When the wife decides to press the button her husband dies and she collects his insurance money (although it was $50,000.00 in the story). She did not want her husband to die, and when she got mad at the man who told her someone she didn't know would die his reply was, "Did you honestly think you actually knew you husband?"

I would never do it, as there is too much suffering in this world. To everyone who said they'd do it, I honestly hope you were joking, because if you weren't then you are everything that is wrong in this world and should burn.

See, I haven't even see the movie and I know where this is going.

It follows that once you press the button, it moves on to someone else. Probably somebody you don't know, and by cruel twist of fate you will become the victim.

So, no, I wouldn't push the button. I don't want to die, thanks.

I would in a heart beat, there are billions of us, and I consider myself and many others expendable, and if I get a million dollars that adds to the fun. I know most of you are gonna think I'm a bad person, but if you think logically, that persons gonna die anyway, and if it's a little sooner and I get cash i'm fine with it.

Last night, I watched a mind fuck of a movie called " The Box". The plot of this movie is a married couple is having some problems with debt. One day, a man with a disfigured face came to there home with a box. The old man said that if you pushed the button in the box, someone in the world, who you don't and will never know will die,but you get 1 million dollars. I'm not going to spoil what they did, but the movie really is going to mind fuck you.

So, if the same man came to your house, would you press the button? Someone you don't know will die, but you get a million dollars. ( The deal is legit. You just can't tell anyone about it)

I wouldn't... I live comfortably, and I guess I wouldn't be able to take that I was the cause of someone's death. Besides, that mill will be gone in a few days by the time I'm thorugh with it.
also from what year is the movie?
2009 if I recall. Wiki it...

The movie was based on a Twilight Zone short called "Button Button". That was very, very good.
I didn't see the movie, but I bet they ruined it.

remember to watch part 2.

OT: No, I would not push it.

I really can't believe some of these replies. You'd kill someone off just because you'd get a mill? Such greed.

What if it was someone's baby? Someone's mother? Jesus...

I would push it before he could even say I would get a million dollars. I've always wanted to kill someone with the push of a button.
So like that little parody shown on I believe Tosh.0?

OT: I'd press it. If I never meet the person, how the hell should their life matter to me?
Well no, I don't watch Tosh that much so I've never seen it. I was refecing Freemans mind. "I've always wanted to kill someone with a push of a button but now that I've done it ehh it just isn't as great as I though it would be"

I don't think I could really push the button.

What if I push it in the name of altruism? I could push the button, and then use the $1,000,000 to build hospitals and schools in poor African countries. I'd probably be greedy and keep a few thousand, but most of that million would go to charity.

A life is worth much less than $1,000,000 in most parts of the world. In India, there are hospitals that can cure terminal tuberculosis sufferers for $50.

Wouldn't push it for a billion. A human life is precious and no one else has the right to take it away.

To the people who have said yes: have you ever experienced the death of someone close to you? How did you feel? Luckily I haven't had this experience yet but of course there will be a time when it does. I'm not looking forward to it, so to say you could inflict that feeling on another person by just pressing a button is unbelievably cold. Guess those people would do well in war.

I sure as hell would. I'd push that button as many times as I can.
If you know the midfuck in the movie you would touch that button with a barge pole. Ever. For a billion billion dollers.

This is so misleading, the mindfuck changes the whole position entirely. You press that button you suffer so much its not even funny.

Read my edit in the OP. I addressed the concern. Nothing else will happen besides you getting the million dollars.

No, and neither would the people saying "I'd totally push it because humanity sucks" etc. I've never taken a life, and I hope I'd never have to. It'd be a big weight on my shoulders.

No. I saw the whole movie and know what happens to the person in the end who pushes the button. You may be lying as well, he didn't warn them what happens after they push it, so you could be as well, OP! It's a trap! D:
